Dolores A. Biglin, age 95, of Shelby, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at her home.
Dolores was born April 22, 1918 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Tome) Heiland. As a homemaker, Dolores was an excellent baker and cook. Known as the “cake lady”, she baked and decorated thousands of cakes for graduations, birthdays and many other occasions for many area families. She also loved doing crafts and needlepoints and cherished time with her children and grandchildren. Dolores was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Francis Home Auxiliary in Tiffin.
Dolores is survived by two daughters: Judy Biglin of Shelby, Jeanne Metzger of Shelby; a son, Charles “Butch” (Cathy) Biglin of Shelby; 5 grandchildren: Kevin (Suzanne) Metzger, Chad (Wendy) Metzger, Denise (Curt) Miller, Jenni Lacy, Joe Biglin; 8 great grandchildren: Chris and Ryan Metzger, Cameron and Carson Metzger, Sammy, Nick, and Zack Miller, Benji Lacy. She was preceded in death by her husband: Ernest J. Biglin in 1988; a son-in-law: Robert A. Metzger; a sister: Elizabeth Lux; a brother: Larry Heiland.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 10 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. James Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Nancy E. Harshbarger, age 76, of Shelby, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby. Nancy was born on May 24, 1937 in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Rev. Dr. Stanley J. and Eleanor (Gavin) Shoemaker. She was a 1955 graduate of Lakewood High School and had attended Mount Union College. Nancy was the secretary at Dowds Elementary School in Shelby for 20 years, retiring in 1997. Nancy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Shelby and had also been active volunteering at Med Central Shelby Hospital, was past president of Newcomers Club in Shelby, past president of the pledge class of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, and was a former member of Shelby Garden Club and Shelby Hospital Guild.
On August 31, 1957 Nancy married David B. Harshbarger and he survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Jill A. (Ray) Ryan of Cazenovia, NY, Julie (Ken) Swanger-Ensman of Shelby; 4 grandchildren: Kayla (John) Roberts of Columbus, Erica (Tyler) Fairchild of North Dakota, Connor Ryan of Oregon, Liam Ryan of Cazenovia, NY; a great granddaughter: Brooklyn Roberts; 3 step-grandchildren: Andrew Ensman, Chris Ensman, Sarah Adkins; 2 step-great grandchildren: Ayden Ensman, Savannah Adkins; a sister: Cynthia (Lynn) Wright of Maryland; a sister-in-law: Marilyn Wittebort; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father: Rev. Dr. Stanley J. Shoemaker; her mother: Eleanor Shoemaker Frank; her step-father: Richard Frank; a son-in-law: John W. Swanger.

Nancy Ann Pfahler, age 91, formerly of Shelby, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Meadowbrook Care Center in Montgomery, Ohio.
She was born January 16, 1922 in Shelby the daughter of the late Judd and Bertha (Tilock) Palmer. Nancy was a 1940 graduate of Shelby High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. She was a homemaker and was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ. A Meals On Wheels volunteer with her husband, Roger, they enjoyed time together sailing, camping, gardening, cross country skiing, bird watching and traveling.
Nancy is survived by her children: David Lee (Terry) Pfahler of Pierre, South Dakota, Ellen (Robert) Morris of Cincinnati, and Beth (Steve) Rogers of Nashua, New Hampshire; and 7 Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Roger Harris Pfahler in 2003; Son: Scott H. Pfahler in 1972; and by a sister: Mary Wallace.

Catherine M. Kempf, age 90, of Shelby, died Monday, December 16, 2013 at Elmcroft of Ontario.
She was born October 28, 1923 in New Washington, Ohio the daughter of the late Edward M. and Louisa M. (Durnwald) Kreim. A 1941 graduate of Chatfield High School, Catherine was a former employee of General Electric in Bucyrus, Wilkins Air Force Depot in Shelby, Egg Auction in New Washington, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, and Mansfield Liederkranz.
Catherine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Jean and Ed Russell of Shelby; a brother: Gerald Kreim of New Washington; 2 sisters: Esther Kreim of Bucyrus and Dolores (Walter) Tackett of Willard. She was preceded in death by her husband: Carl B. Kempf in 1991; 2 sons: Eric Kempf in 1971 and Stephen Kempf in 2010; 4 brothers: Joseph Kreim, Richard Kreim, John Kreim and Virgil Kreim; 2 sisters: Arlene Bechtel and Arvilla Karl.

Jason L. “Jake” Housholder, age 84, of Shelby, died Friday, December 13, 2013 at Mifflin Care Center.
He was born August 10, 1929 in Jeromesville, Ohio the son of the late Lawrence J. and Goldie (McQuate) Householder. Jake retired from Tech Form Industries in Shelby and after his retirement he worked as a security guard at Central Ohio Industrial Park and ArcelorMittal.
Jake loved to fish on his pontoon boat and travel. Jake was an army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the VFW, Eagles and Owls.
Jake is survived by 2 sisters: Ruth (Kenneth) Bowman of Rowsburg, OH and Carolyn (Alvin) Kitts of Ashland; His best friend who he thought of as a brother: Dale (Darlene) Jenkins of Shelby; Nieces and nephews; a step son-in-law: Robert Smith of Shelby; and a sister-in-law: Sally Ann Householder of Ashland. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary (Champion) Housholder in 2004; a step daughter: Cheryl Smith; 2 brothers: Dwight and Wade Householder and a sister: Betty Miller.

Robert “Ray” Tunney, age 78, of Shelby, died Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Med Central Shelby Hospital.
He was born April 17, 1935 in West Brownsville, PA the son of the late Clifford and Mabel (McCleary) Tunney. He was a graduate of California High School in California, PA. Ray was a supervisor at Firestone in Shelby and retired after 28 years of service. After his retirement, he was the canteen manager for the Shelby Eagles for 10 years. Ray loved to play golf at Woody Ridge and was an avid gardener and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. However his greatest joy was his family whom he adored. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are his wife: Shirley Heath Tunney, whom he married on January 4, 1961; a daughter: Susan (Marvin) Jose of Shelby; a son: Bob (Rhonda) Tunney of Shelby; 4 granddaughters: Trisha (Craig) Harvey, Jessica Jose, Terri Tunney, Lorraine Tunney; a great grandson: Karsen Homan; a step grandson: Travis (Tricia) Rieman; step great granddaughters: Hannah, Allyssa, Kassidy Rieman; a brother: Walter Tunney and a sister: Kathleen Holzapfel both of PA. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

James Ray Ingram, age 78, of Shelby, died unexpectedly at his home.
He was born November 9, 1935 in Scranton, Kentucky the son of the late Bertis and Minnie (Brown) Ingram. Jim was a graduate of Frenchburg High School in Frenchburg, Kentucky and was a United States Air Force veteran serving as an airborne radio operator in Military Air Transport Services. He began his working career in 1959 at the Ontario General Motors Plant and in 1979 transferred to the GM plant in Decatur, Alabama from which he retired. Currently, Jim was a driver for Skarl Motors in Shelby.
In his retirement, Jim and his late wife, Berdie, enjoyed traveling to flea markets and fairs selling oriental rugs. Jim loved following all of Kentucky sports, especially the Wildcats. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Shelby Country Club. He attended the Church of God on London West Road.
Jim is survived by his daughter: Denise (Jerry) Nye of Shelby; 2 step sons: John (Joni) Greathouse of Shelby and Kevin Greathouse of Cullman, Alababma; 6 grandchildren: Jessica Nye, Benjamin Nye, Abigail Nye, Jon Greathouse, Jamie Payne, Christina Greathouse; 4 great grandchildren: Jaxon Payne, Journey Payne, Taylor Greathouse, Morgan DeNero; a brother: Denzil (Maureen) Ingram of Shelby; a sister: Reba Montgomery of Monroe, Ohio; and a close friend: Kathleen Stamper of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his wife, Berdie Lucille Ingram in 2000.

Cleason S. Zimmerman, 7 week old son of Adin and Vera (Sensenig) Zimmerman, died at his home on Thursday, November 28, 2013.
Cleason was born on October 10, 2013 in Greenwich, Ohio. Dorothy A. McKinney, age 85, of Shelby died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, November 22, 2013.
Dorothy was born August 5, 1928 in Shelby the daughter of the late Robert M. and Caroline (Kurtzman) Spangler. A 1946 graduate of Shelby High School, she was a homemaker and had been employed at the Shelby Sales Book, Peoples Store and Lemmerman’s Drug Store. In addition to that, Dorothy babysat and cared for numerous children over the years. She was a member of the Richland County Fair Board Auxiliary.
She is survived by 3 sons: Michael E. McKinney, John S. McKinney and Robert “Marty” McKinney; 3 daughters-in-law: Pamela K., Shannon, and Christine “Tina”; 4 grandchildren: Jennifer, Katie, Annie, and Megan McKinney; a step grandson: Ryan Curren and his daughter, Hannah; a son-in-law: Pete Clark; a sister-in-law: Catherine “Katie” Spangler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ralph E. McKinney in 2012; Daughter: Jean Clark; Granddaughter: Tracy Clark; 4 brothers: John, Robert, Francis, and Leo Spangler; 2 sisters: Elfreda Beimler and Catherine Beltz.
