James Buster Coleman, age 94, of Shelby, died early Thursday morning, December 8, 2016 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
James was born August 1, 1922 in Pike County, Coleman, KY, the son of the late William Green and Rosie (Dotson) Coleman. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving his country during World War II. In his early years, James was a coalminer before moving to Ohio. The rest of his life he was an independent mason and loved stone and brickwork. James was very involved in church his entire life and truly loved serving the Lord. He read his Bible faithfully and had taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Shelby Church of God. James donated his time and God given talent to several churches doing brick work. He thoroughly enjoyed music and singing, especially gospel music, and in his early years made records and had been on the radio.
On June 2, 1948, James married Dollie Jean Brown in Pikeville, KY and they celebrated 68 years of marriage. Dollie survives along with 5 children: Diana Coleman of Shelby, James “Terry” (Shawn) Coleman of Shelby, Susan (Harry) Fritz of Crestline, Rhonda Coleman of Shelby, Rick (Becky) Coleman of Crestline; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Coleman, and was the last surviving child of 12 children.

Armin James “A.J.” Oney, age 90, of Shelby, died early Tuesday morning, December 6, 2016 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
A.J. was born July 14, 1926 in Shiloh, Ohio, the son of the late James and Lucy (Cox) Oney. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School and a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. Mr. Oney was employed at Westinghouse in Mansfield from where he retired, had also been employed at FE Myers & Bros. Pumps in Ashland and, for a short time, worked at the Mansfield Reformatory. He also had his own business painting barns and his own taxi business in Ashland and Shelby. Armin was a member of the Shelby American Legion. He loved to play pool and, in his younger years, enjoyed bowling. He also enjoyed taking off in his vehicle for a drive, both short trips and weekend getaways.
Armin is survived by: 5 children: Margie Grieser of Stryker, OH, Marsha (Greg) Martin of Shelby, Marilyn Smith of Shelby, Armin “Jim” (Vicki) Oney, Jr. of Ashland, and Misty (Jeremy) Bornert of PA; 2 granddaughters and 6 grandsons; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, others relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Louella Oney in 2013; a son-in-law: Mike Smith in 2008; 2 brothers: Junior Paul Oney and Cecil Oney; and an infant sister.

Nancy Armintrout, age 78, of Shelby, died Monday, November 28, 2016 at OhioHealth Shelby Hospital.
Nancy was born April 8, 1938 in Delaware, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn (White) Armintrout. She was a 1957 graduate of Shelby High School and was a former employee of Shelby Telephone Company.
Nancy is survived by a brother: Harold Armintrout of Shelby; a sister: Patricia Ann (John) Foley of Shelby; a sister-in-law: Linda Armintrout of Shelby; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Larry Armintrout in 2016.

Ralph D. Parsons, age 84, of Shelby, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Ralph was born February 27, 1932 in Elliott County, Kentucky, the son of the late Vencil and Ollie (Porter) Parsons. He was a United States Armed Forces veteran serving during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Ralph worked at AK Steel in Mansfield, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member of Taylortown Community Church, where he served as deacon for several years and currently remained an honorary deacon.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Hazel (Barker) Parsons, whom he wed on September 6, 1959. Also surviving are: 4 children: Robin (Dave) Johnson of Shelby, Joyce Burdette of Washington, WV, Ralph “Danny” (Sherry) Parsons, Jr. of Plymouth, and Susan (Bill) McLendon of Shelby; 13 grandchildren: Kate (Tim) Mirth, Emily Johnson, Clay Burdette, Nathan Burdette, Elizabeth Parsons, Amber Parsons, Chris Parsons, Paul Parsons, Rebekah Parsons, Aaron Allen, Shawn McLendon, Erica McLendon; 2 great granddaughters: River and Rose Mirth; 2 brothers: Bob (Paulette) Parsons of Hamilton, Don (Tong) Parsons of Lebanon; 4 sisters: Thelma McDavid, Dorothy (Elwood) Flannery, June Parsons all of Grayson, KY, and Della (Dewey) Barker) of Shelby. In addition to his parents Ralph was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Zoelle Mirth, and a brother, Lonnie Parsons.

John Henry Pruitt, age 74, of Shelby, died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home.
He was born August 15, 1942 in Findlay, Ohio the son of the late Paul A. and Ruth Kate (Groth) Pruitt. John attended school in Findlay and began his working career as a traffic signal repairman. He worked his way up to become the Traffic Signal Supervisor for the city of St. Joseph, MO. Along with his job as Traffic Signal Supervisor for the city of St. Joseph, John was also a reserve police officer. John was quite the handyman. He could fix anything from plumbing to roofing to electrical and anything in between. John was willing to teach anyone anything he knew if they were willing to listen and learn. He loved the outdoors and was very proud to keep his property meticulous. He was very helpful to his neighbors and would help anyone who needed assistance. Karen and John did everything together and the time they spent together was cherished by both of them. He enjoyed sports cars, ice skating and spending time with their family. John was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
John is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karen L. (Stewart) Pruitt, whom he wed on July 19, 1993; 2 children: John (Amanda) Pruitt of Arkansas and Johanna Pruitt of Missouri. 2 step sons: Ryan (Britta) Smith of Mansfield and Aaron Smith (Jessica) of Shelby; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 4 sisters: Connie (Ron) Strine of Shelby, William Pruitt of Mansfield, Brenda Amato of Florida, and Arthur Eugene (Dawn) Pruitt of Lexington. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Arryah Smith.

Mary Elizabeth Boreman, age 97, currently of Mansfield and former Shelby resident, died Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Arbors at Mifflin.
Mary was born May 9, 1919 in Kenton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Earl and Edna (Milum) McLane. She was a graduate of Salem Township High School in Wyandot County and was a homemaker her entire life. Mary enjoyed gardening, reading and embroidering.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Shirley Jean and Paul Daniel Madden who reside in Tustin, California and two grandchildren: Paul Andrew (fiancée, Kara) Madden and Jennifer Renee Madden, both of California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Boreman in 1993 and an infant brother and sister.

Carl L. Hench, age 44, of Shelby, died unexpectedly Monday, October 24, 2016 at OhioHealth Shelby Hospital.
Carl was born March 29, 1972 in Shelby to Gary Luther and the late Dorothy Y. (Binion) Hench. He was a 1991 graduate of Shelby High School. Carl lived a simple life, but anybody who knew him, knew he enjoyed walking and could often be seen walking around town.
In addition to his father, survivors include: 2 brothers: Jeff (Toni) Binion of Mansfield and Jon (Kelli) Hanlon of Galion; 3 sisters: Sheila Boorom; Eva (Dave) Dailey of Butler, TN, and Hope (Jarrod) Morgan of Coal Grove, OH; an uncle: Ed (Judy) Binion of Shelby; 2 aunts: Betty Menshouse of Ashland, KY and Carol Wireman of Galion; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His mother preceded him in death in 1980.

Larry W. Myers, age 74, of Shelby, died Friday, October 21, 2016 at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Larry was born February 8, 1942 in Shelby to the late Marlin W. and Gladys P. (McGinnis) Myers. He was a 1960 graduate of Shelby High School. Larry began his working career with Ohio Power, which later became AEP, from where he retired after 44 years of service. In addition to AEP, Larry was a proud 3rd generation lifelong farmer and was the owner of Myers Farms and a partner in Rolling Hills Farms, LLC. He loved everything to do with tractors, especially tractor pulls. Larry was also an avid NASCAR fan and lived for Sunday races. Over the years, he enjoyed traveling to see different races. Larry was a member of the Shelby Owls, Shelby Eagles, Shelby American Legion, and First Lutheran Church.
Larry is survived by his 3 children: Kimberly Hale of Circleville, Gary L. (Jodi) Myers of Shelby, Kelley (Josh) Pate of Chillicothe; 8 grandchildren: Brittany Hale, Breanne Hale, Brice Hale, Keira Myers, Shane Myers, Travis Myers, Corey (Ashley) Blankenship, Taylor Blankenship; 3 great grandchildren: Eilley Rose, Parker Cash, and Mason; a sister: Judy (Jacque) Hoover of Shelby; a brother: Dean (Gail) Myers of Shelby; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Donna Jean (Alt) Hicks, age 81, of Shelby died Thursday, October 20, 2016 at her home.
She was born January 25, 1935 in New Washington, Ohio the daughter of the late Harry and Genevieve (Cole) Alt. Donna was a graduate of New Washington High School and retired from AMF in Shelby. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she was active in the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Rosary Society. Along with other members of Altar Rosary Society, Donna baked birthday cakes regularly and delivered them to Abraxas. She also volunteered at St. Mary School and at Shelby Helpline preparing clothing for the annual Christmas program. Donna enjoyed reading, traveling, and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially by following their activities. She was also an avid game and card player with her friends.
Donna is survived by 3 daughters: Wanda Harris of Tucson, AZ, Jayne Browning of Indianapolis, IN, and Joni (James) Young of Shelby; 7 grandchildren: Michael (Katrina) Barker, Brandon Barker, Rachel Miller, Lori Browning, Anthony (Sarah) Young, Kevin Young, and Kenneth (Holly) Fritz; 9 great grandchildren: Alyssa Barker, Ruby Barker, Kaiden and Sienna Miller, Vivian and Valerie Young, and Alivia, Kennedy, and Maxtyn Fritz; 5 brothers and sisters: Raymond (Sue) Alt, Donald Alt, Lowell Alt, Ruth Kouns, Jayne Alt; a sister-in-law: Lucille Walton; and a special niece: Elizabeth Hanson. In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by: her husband: Robert J. Hicks in 1996; a daughter: Lori Lee Fritz in 2002; a son-in-law: Frank Browning; and an infant grandson.

Anna M. “Ann” Studer, age 95, of Shelby, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
She was born May 21, 1921 in New Washington, Ohio the daughter of the late Clement and Blanche (Sutter) Alt. Ann was a 1939 graduate of New Washington High School. She began her working career at Shelby Metal Products and Wilkins Air Force Depot. After 32 years of service, Ann retired from GAF Shelby Business Forms. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and loved doing yardwork, gardening, and tending to her flowers. Baking her Christmas cookies was a yearly tradition she loved. Ann was a member of the Shelby Moose.
A devout Catholic who loved her parish, Ann was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Ann’s Society. Ann had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and faithfully prayed the rosary daily.
Ann is survived by her 3 sons: Larry Studer of Salem, OR, Jim (Jeannine) Studer of Knoxville, TN, Denny (Lorraine “Rainy”) Studer of Columbus; 3 grandchildren: Sean Studer, Erin (Steve) Keller and Dena Studer; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Alice (George) Willman of Shelby, Joan (Thomas) Rospert of Norwalk; a sister-in-law: Alice Alt of Willard; several Godchildren nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward D. Studer in 2003; a grandson: Baby Andrew Joseph Studer; 2 sisters: Bertha M. Weaver, Rosemary Baker; 4 Brothers: Francis Alt, Urban Alt, Edmond Alt and Fr. Clement Alt, C.PP.S.
