Anna M. “Ann” Studer
Anna M. “Ann” Studer, age 95, of Shelby, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
She was born May 21, 1921 in New Washington, Ohio the daughter of the late Clement and Blanche (Sutter) Alt. Ann was a 1939 graduate of New Washington High School. She began her working career at Shelby Metal Products and Wilkins Air Force Depot. After 32 years of service, Ann retired from GAF Shelby Business Forms. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and loved doing yardwork, gardening, and tending to her flowers. Baking her Christmas cookies was a yearly tradition she loved. Ann was a member of the Shelby Moose.
A devout Catholic who loved her parish, Ann was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Ann’s Society. Ann had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and faithfully prayed the rosary daily.
Ann is survived by her 3 sons: Larry Studer of Salem, OR, Jim (Jeannine) Studer of Knoxville, TN, Denny (Lorraine “Rainy”) Studer of Columbus; 3 grandchildren: Sean Studer, Erin (Steve) Keller and Dena Studer; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Alice (George) Willman of Shelby, Joan (Thomas) Rospert of Norwalk; a sister-in-law: Alice Alt of Willard; several Godchildren nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward D. Studer in 2003; a grandson: Baby Andrew Joseph Studer; 2 sisters: Bertha M. Weaver, Rosemary Baker; 4 Brothers: Francis Alt, Urban Alt, Edmond Alt and Fr. Clement Alt, C.PP.S.
Friends and family are welcome on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 2-4 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street Shelby. Ann’s nephew, The Most Rev. Robert J. Baker, Bishop of Birmingham, and Father Chris Mileski, her pastor, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund.
