Norma Jean Strohminger

Norma Jean Strohminger, age 82, of Mansfield, passed peacefully Friday afternoon, September 27, 2024 at her home with her family at her side.

Norma was born August 26, 1942 in Mansfield, the daughter of the late Eugene W. and Nina Mae (Pry) Poffenbaugh. A 1960 graduate of Springfield Township High School, Norma then attended Bowling Green State University where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and graduated with bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

Her teaching career began at Olmsted Falls and followed with other positions. However, she ultimately spent 32 years at St. Mary School in Shelby devoted to her students and the school- both of which she loved dearly. Her students, known at that time to them as Mrs. Bonham, fulfilled her life and gave her much joy. Norma was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mansfield.

Norma is survived by her loving husband, H. Dean Strohminger, whom she wed on August 8, 2012. Also surviving are her family whom she adored, her children: Vicki Belanger (fiancé, Ed Frey) of Galloway, OH and Dr. Brad (Meg) Bonham of Antioch, IL; grandchildren: Tyler (Megan) Crowley, Michelle Belanger, Kaitlyn (Mike) Anderson, Erin Bonham, Sarah Bonham, and Nicholas Bonham; great grandchildren: Levi Crowley and Quin Anderson; step children: Steve Strohminger, Gordon (Deana) Strohminger, and Laura Strohminger (fiancé, Cory Slack); step grandchildren: Will Strohminger and Catherine Strohminger; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law: Wesley and Jackie Poffenbaugh.
