Martha Eileen Corwin Baker

Martha Eileen Corwin Baker, age 90, of Shelby, died Friday, July 25, 2014 at Lutheran Village of Ashland.

Eileen was born November 12, 1923 in Bellefontaine, Ohio the daughter of the late Wilmuth Titus and Leona Coats Corwin. She graduated in 1941 from Shelby High School and on June 27, 1942 she married Robert Elton Baker. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before his death in 2011.

Eileen was employed at Shelby Metal Products, City Loan and Seltzer Electric. For over 25 years she served the American Cancer Society as a Reach To Recovery volunteer. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Shelby.

Surviving are 2 daughters: Barbara Jo Hess of Sanford, NC and Karen Kay Reiker (fiancé Scott McClaran) of Ashland; a granddaughter: Cherie McMillian of Sanford, NC; 3 great grandchildren: Alyssa, Skyler and Kaycee; a great great grandson: Jeremiah; 2 sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Rudy) Korbas and Chris Corwin.  In addition to her parents and husband, Eileen was preceded in death by: her step-mother: Gweneth Fulton Corwin Kirkpatrick; 2 brothers: Dwight Corwin and William Corwin; a half-brother: Richard Alexander; a half-sister: Irma Rowe.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM with Rev. James Macdonald officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to First United Methodist Church in Shelby or to Hospice of North Central Ohio.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Lutheran Village of Ashland for their exceptional care and devotion.

    My Condolences to your family for your loss of this wonderful, full of life, as I liked to call her ” wild women”. She brightened my day every time I had to make her do her therapy (even though she really didn’t want to do it.) She had the most infectious laugh & I can hear it everytime I look at this picture.
