Penwell Turner Funeral Home - Shelby, Ohio

Leonard Charles “Lennie” Reidel

Leonard Charles “Lennie” Reidel, age 80, of Shelby, died Thursday, January 27, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.

Lennie was born March 14, 1941 in Shelby to the late Donald L. and Effie C. (Brocwell) Reidel. He was a 1959 graduate of Shelby High School where he excelled in basketball and baseball. In 1960, Len began what would become a 46-year career with Shelby Business Forms working under the various company managements until ultimately retiring in 2006 under the Miami Systems ownership and its closing.

Lennie loved the game of golf and was an avid player. He had been a member of the Shelby Country Club since 1965 and, throughout his life, celebrated having several hole-in-ones. He also enjoyed playing pool and had been a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz since 1986. Lennie and his wife, Rosemary, appreciated traveling and had enjoyed several cruises, multiple trips to Myrtle Beach each year, and, visiting his all-time favorite destination, Sedona, AZ. Above all things, time with his grandchildren was at the top especially supporting them in the various activities and sports- rarely missing any.

Len is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Frangella) Reidel, whom he wed on April 5, 1997; his daughters: Lisa (Robby) Crain and Andrea Pelfrey (Robert Colburn) both of Shelby; his grandchildren: Tyler Crain (Heather Longdon) of Shelby and Megan Crain (John Meyer, IV) of Georgia; his in-laws: Patty (Chuck) Harrington of Shelby, Robin Frangella of Mansfield, and Al Frangella of Shelby; cousins: Gaylene DeVito, Kip Brocwell, Mike Brocwell, and Jeff Brocwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law: Carolyn and Ed Stevens; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: James and Rose Frangella; and a brother-in-law: Jim Frangella.

Rosemary would like to thank those who have been of great help and care throughout Lennie’s illness and passing especially caregivers: Marge Coon, Karen Winters, and Tanya Laser; our grandchildren, Megan and Tyler, who stepped up above and beyond; and Chuck and Patty for all of their continual support and assistance.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 4-7 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 10:30 am.
