Mark Kipling “Kip” Milliron

Mark Kipling “Kip” Milliron, age 58, former Shelby resident died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at his home in Lewisville, Texas after an apparent heart attack.

 

Kip was born September 10, 1955 in Shelby, the son of Paul L. Milliron and Jeanne (Heckman) Wiebe. He was a 1974 graduate of Shelby High School. Kip owned and operated Milliron’s and Associates, a landscaping business in Lewisville, TX that he had for many years. He enjoyed creating floral designs for wedding, funerals, and other occasions.

 

Kip is survived by: 2 children: Nathan McCain of Florida, Ariel Hale of California; his father and step-mother: Paul and Joanne (Wenning) Milliron of Shelby; step-father: Jim Wiebe of Florida; 4 siblings: Ron (Debbie) Milliron of Texas, Vella (David) King of Ashland, Durk (Anne) Milliron of Tennessee, Bret (Sharon) Milliron of Florida; 3 step-sisters and a step-brother: Terrie Ailey, Kathy Cranfill, Shey Turner, David Wiebe, all of Florida; an aunt: Ann (Kenneth) Hemmerly of Shelby; an uncle: Harry Milliron of Florida; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother: Jeanne Wiebe.

 

Friends and family are welcome on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 4 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 East Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875 where a memorial service will be held at 4 PM with Rev. Edna Stahl officiating. The family will greet guest following the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Flying Horse Farms, 5260 Ohio 95, Mt. Gilead, Ohio 43338.

William Dewey “Bill” Barker, Jr.

William Dewey “Bill” Barker, Jr., age 51, of Shelby died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at this home.

 

He was born December 17, 1962 in Mansfield. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and loved to ride 4-wheelers.

 

He is survived by his parents: William Dewey and Della L. (Parsons) Barker, Sr. of Shelby; 4 siblings: Shelia Hogan, Jennifer Barker, Benjamin T. (Danielle) Barker and Jordyn Barker all of Shelby; 6 nephews, 2 nieces, 1 great niece and 1 great nephew.

 

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 2-5 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 AM by Rev. O. Vandal “Van” W. Mahon

Vandal “Van” W. Mahon

 

Vandal “Van” Mahon, age 57, of Denver, Colorado and formerly of Shelby, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 17, 2014 at home.

 Van was born December 19, 1956 in Shelby the son of the late Van Buren and Mavis (Pack) Mahon.

 

He is survived by his daughter: Cassie DeLee Sipes of Aurora, CO; sister: Sandra E. Artz of Shelby; brother: Robert K. (Lisa) Mahon of Midland, GA; 2 grandchildren: Cole Daniel Sipes and Brooklyn DeLee Sipes of Aurora, CO; 3 nephews: Ryan (Nikki) Rinehart of Crestline, Jordan (Tara) LaSuzzo of West Point, MS and Zach LaSuzzo of Monroe, LA; and many family and friends. Van was preceded in death by his parents and a great nephew.

 

Friends may join the family on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 4-7 PM at the Shelby Senior and Community Center, 154 North Gamble Street, Shelby, where Vandal’s life will be honored and celebrated.

Edwin N. Zimmerman

Edwin N. Zimmerman, age 92 years, 11 months, 30 days, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the home of his daughter and son in law Anna and Melvin Nolt in Plymouth after a period of deteriorating health.

 

Mr. Zimmerman was born May 12, 1921 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania the son of the late Aaron Z. and Lizzie B.( Nolt) Zimmerman.  He was a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church and was a retired farmer.

 

He is survived by his children: Lizzie (Mahlon) Sauder of Kutztown, PA, Martha (Harry) Weaver Kutztown, PA, Anna (Melvin) Nolt of Plymouth, Ammon (Erma) Zimmerman of Kutztown, PA, Mabel Zimmerman (Melvin deceased) of Leroy, MN, Harvey (Erma) Zimmerman of Shelby, Rachel (Harvey) Burkholder of Shiloh, Annetta (Lloyd) Martin of Shiloh, Edwin (Grace) Zimmerman of Shelby, Glenn (LouElla) Zimmerman of Shelby,  Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. His siblings: Lena N. Martin of Martinsburg, PA, Sarah Horning of Lancaster Co., PA, Lydiann Martin of Lancaster Co., PA, John Aaron Zimmerman of Shiloh, Benjamin Zimmerman of Plymouth, Esther Martin of Martinsburg, PA, and Lloyd Zimmerman of Lancaster Co., PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Annie N. (Hoover) Zimmerman on March 19, 2006; daughter: Ellen Zimmerman in 1964 and Son: Melvin Zimmerman in 2004; Granddaughter: Edna Nolt in 1988 and 8 siblings.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the home of his daughter and son in law Rachel and Harvey Burkholder, 1991 Shatzer Road, Shiloh. The family will meet there at 8:45 AM Friday morning for prayers. Funeral service will be on Friday at 9:30 AM at Springmill Old Order Mennonite Church on Dininger Road in Shelby, with Bishop Ammon Burkholder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Bruce Allen Snyder

Bruce Allen Snyder, age 68, of Shelby, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Mount Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ after an apparent heart attack.

Bruce was born June 21, 1945 in Wood County, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Beulah A. (Maidment) Snyder. He was a 1963 graduate of Union High School. Bruce retired from UPS where he had driven a package delivery truck and then later was a tractor trailer driver making runs between UPS locations on third shift. He was a member of the First Church of God in Shelby. Bruce loved fishing, rug weaving, church dartball, square dancing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

On August 6, 1966 Bruce married Marcia France who survives. Also surviving are 4 children: Joe (Kristie) Snyder of Barstow, CA, Ben (Michelle) Snyder of Columbus, Amanda (Mike) Brazeal of Howard, Paul Snyder of Shelby; 6 grandchildren; Deanna Gray, Bradly Gustafson, EmaLee Gustafson, Rachel and Elijah Snyder, Stephen Brazeal and 1 great grandchild Caiden Robasse; a brother: Francis (Alice) Snyder of Shiloh; 2 sisters: Margaret Fuller of Mansfield and Mary Cairns of Mansfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 infant brothers: Donald and Leland Snyder.

A life celebration service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours from 10:00-11:30 A.M. at the First Church of God, 3616 Ohio 39, Shelby. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 in the chapel, Pastor Gary Hill officiating. Burial will be in Ganges Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Shelby Salvation Army Service Unit, or Shelby Help Line Ministries where Bruce volunteered.

Bruce truly believed and lived by his life verse found in Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ, therefore I no longer live, but Jesus Christ who lives in me. The life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave Himself for me.”

Charles Lewis Reinke

Charles Lewis Reinke, age 75, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in Palm Harbor, Florida, after a long illness.

Chuck was born May 19, 1938, in Lodi, Ohio, the son of the late J. Herman and Charlotte (Orr) Reinke. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1956 and attended Manchester College in Indiana. He was an avid single-engine pilot and spent time as a flight instructor at the Shelby airport. He became an air traffic controller, working for the FAA in Oberlin, Ohio and Puerto Rico for 12 years. He made a career change and attended school to become a chiropractor and practiced in Clearwater, Florida, for many years. Photography was another passion of Chuck’s and he leaves behind numerous beautiful photos for his family and friends to enjoy.

He is survived by his children: Suzanne Nagy of Columbus, Mark (Maria) Reinke of Austin, TX, Karen (Jeff) Reed, Charles (Lakeisha) Reinke of Albuquerque, NM; 2 brothers: Robert (Shirley) Reinke of Westerville, Richard (Joyce) Reinke of Bloomington, MN; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 2 nieces; 1 nephew. Chuck is also survived by his long-time friend and caregiver, Laura Fagersten. He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Reinke; and former wife, Alice Laser Reinke.

Ronald Eugene Schull

Ronald Eugene Schull, age 69, of Gahanna, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home.

Ron was born December 5, 1944 in Shelby, the son of the late Eugene and Agnes (Ruch) Schull. He was a 1963 graduate of Shelby Senior High School and also graduated from Mansfield Business College where he earned an accounting degree. For almost 30 years Ron worked for Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities where he was the purchasing agent and supervisor of the storeroom for the entire agency. He was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gahanna. Ron was an avid sports fan, enjoying all sports especially The Ohio State University basketball team of which he was a season ticket holder. He was a talented table tennis player which earned him several state championships. He was a member of the Columbus Table Tennis Club for many years and used to enjoy woodworking.

On June 23, 1973, Ron married Caryl Jo Pitcher and she survives. Also surviving are: a brother: James Allan (Karolyn) Schull of Tampa, FL; a sister-in-law: Toni Schull of Lancaster; a nephew: Michael (Corry) Schull of Marengo; 3 nieces: Debora (Kurt) Gearhiser of Hilliard, Lorrie Moore of Mansfield, Laura (Chip) Partridge of Columbus; many great nieces and nephews; numerous friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Eleanor Moore.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 26 West Street, Shelby with Fr. James Sanford officiating. Lovell L. Elkins

Lovell L. Elkins, age 75, of Shelby, went to be with the Lord late Monday night, April 21, 2014 at his home.
Lovell was born on April 28, 1938 in Ramage, WV, the son of the late Clarence Elkins and Ora Burgess. He was a 1955 graduate of Scott High School in Madison, WV. Lovell retired from AK Steel in 2008 after 34 years of service and after his retirement worked 5 years in maintenance for The Ohio State University Mansfield campus. Lovell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelby where he has been a very active member for over 45 years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading, all types of music, and studying history- especially war history. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Janice (McClain) Elkins; 2 children: David (fiancé, Shareen) Elkins of Shelby, Suzanne Elkins of Columbus; 3 brothers: Joseph, John, Tony; 2 sisters: Emeretta and Sherry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Bobby, Wetzel, Alfred, and Claude. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Shelby with Rev. Tom Dove officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Alberta Fay (Stewart) Burks

Alberta Fay (Stewart) Burks, age 78, of Shelby, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic.

 She was born January 27, 1936 in Clearfield, Kentucky the daughter of the late Anna (Markwell) and Morgan Thomas Stewart II. Alberta was a 1954 graduate of Shelby High School and had been employed at the Shelby Mutual Insurance Company, Wilkins Air Force Depot and  Miami Systems, retiring  from there after 17 years of service.  She enjoyed crocheting, crafting and reading.

 Alberta married Harold Arthur Burks on June 18, 1955 and he survives along with 2 children: Drs. Duane (Rose) Burks of Mansfield and Brenda Reeves of Wisconsin; 2 grandsons: Stephan (Heather) Reeves and Dylan Burks; 2 sisters: Corlena Haskins of Michigan and Dorothy Barber of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Morgan Thomas Stewart III and a sister: Mary Smith.

Michael David Blanton

Michael David Blanton, age 59, of Shelby, died Friday, April 18, 2014 surrounded by his family at his home.

Michael was born November 24, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, the son of the late Hade and Dorothy (Tackett) Blanton. He attended Crestview Schools. To sum up Michael’s life, there were two things of importance: family and music. Since he was a child, music has been a part of his life. He started singing at the age of 15 with his family, known then as the Gospel Crusaders and now as the Blanton Family. Since 1969 he has traveled the country playing in thousands of churches and festivals spreading the gospel message through his music ministry. Michael was proud to have mentored his nephew, Curtis Oyler, who looks up to Michael and considers him his hero. They loved to work together in the recording studio. Michael’s final prayer was that his family would draw closer and always take care of each other.   Michael fought the good fight, kept the faith, and now lives in his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Michael worked for Willard Home Improvement and prior to that has worked for 17 years at U Brand in Ashland. He was a member of Belmont Community Church in Mansfield.

On June 17, 2007 God took two broken pieces and put them together. On that day he married Lorie (Lee) Blanton and she survives. Together they have five children who also survive: Alisha (Stephen) Clay, Michael David Blanton, II (Shaina Fultz) both of Mansfield, Shawnee (Abraham) Wheatley, Bradley Caudill, Brianna Caudill all of Shelby; 7 grandchildren: Brianna (Jesus), T.J., Cyntara, Zachariah, Briella, Abigail, Serenity; 1 great granddaughter on the way: Míla; 8 siblings: Robert (Carolyn) Blanton, Thomas (Marian) Blanton, Harold (Judy) Blanton, Shirley Sutton all of Mansfield, Charles (Cheryl) Blanton of MO, Phyllis Blanton (Dale Miling) of Norwalk, Gary (Donna) Blanton, Sandra (Martin) Spurgeon both of Shelby; father-in-law: Robert (Maryann) Lee; mother-in-law: Margaret Pettry; 2 special friends: Canaan Stevens, Trevor Reese. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother: Audrey Blanton and a brother: Vernon Blanton.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church, 1602 Walker Lake Road, Ontario, Ohio 44906 where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM with Pastor Gary Lambert officiating and Pastor Charles Pentecost assisting. Burial will follow in Franklin Church Cemetery.
