Ronald Eugene Schull

Ronald Eugene Schull, age 69, of Gahanna, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home.

Ron was born December 5, 1944 in Shelby, the son of the late Eugene and Agnes (Ruch) Schull. He was a 1963 graduate of Shelby Senior High School and also graduated from Mansfield Business College where he earned an accounting degree. For almost 30 years Ron worked for Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities where he was the purchasing agent and supervisor of the storeroom for the entire agency. He was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gahanna. Ron was an avid sports fan, enjoying all sports especially The Ohio State University basketball team of which he was a season ticket holder. He was a talented table tennis player which earned him several state championships. He was a member of the Columbus Table Tennis Club for many years and used to enjoy woodworking.

On June 23, 1973, Ron married Caryl Jo Pitcher and she survives. Also surviving are: a brother: James Allan (Karolyn) Schull of Tampa, FL; a sister-in-law: Toni Schull of Lancaster; a nephew: Michael (Corry) Schull of Marengo; 3 nieces: Debora (Kurt) Gearhiser of Hilliard, Lorrie Moore of Mansfield, Laura (Chip) Partridge of Columbus; many great nieces and nephews; numerous friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Eleanor Moore.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 26 West Street, Shelby with Fr. James Sanford officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice.

    I am so sorry for your loss and am saddened by the news of Ron’s passing. I enjoyed being Ron’s neighbor for a number of years and will always remember him fondly. I imagine Ron is either organizing a table tennis match or taking over heaven’s Aviary.
