Dennis James “Red” Lucius

Dennis James “Red” Lucius, age 61, of Shelby, died naturally yet unexpectedly Thursday morning, December 4, 2025 at his home.

Red was born May 11, 1964 in Shelby, the son of Robert J. and Sandra Kay (Noland) Lucius. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1983. Following graduation, Red took a job at Quanex in Shelby where he worked until its closing. He then worked for various factories such as Crane Plumbing (formerly Artesian) and Milark Industries- both in Mansfield. He loved to work.

For hobbies, Red enjoyed bowling and fishing. Most importantly, he loved spending time with family and his Boston Terrier dogs.

Red is survived by his wife, Jamie Lynn (Rinbolt) Lucius, whom he wed on August 25, 2008; son: Bobby Lucius; grandchildren: Alexis, Cadin, Kyleigh, Olivia, Timmy, and Joey; his father: Robert J. Lucius of Shelby; brother: Tim Lucius of Fredericktown; sister: Lorri (Sonny) Bragg of Marengo; in-laws: Tammy (Ed) Mahaffey of Marion, Brenda (John) Mullin of Nevada, Kim (Larry) Ward of Marion, and Art (Killeen) Rinbolt of Marion; aunt: Gretchen Robertson; best friend: Steve Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother: Sandra Kay Lucius; and son: Joshua Lucius.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 11 am-1 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1 pm. Pastor Russ Smith will officiate with burial following in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby.
