Regina Margaret Apger

Regina Margaret Apger, age 81, of Lexington, died early Monday morning, February 14, 2022.

Regina was born August 15, 1940 in Grants Pass, OR to the late Charles L. and Margaret (Gambill) Allen. She worked for the civil service for several years and was an EMT. Regina also owned a small country general store, baked wonderful pies at the Apple Pie Inn Restaurant, and was a self-taught artist and crafter for over 40 years.

On July 3, 1959 she married William R. Apger and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1993. In addition to her parents and husband, Regina was preceded in death by her son, Stephen J. Apger; and son-in-law: Robert Williams. Survivors include three children: Lisa M. Williams of Warsaw, Bruce (Kris) Apger of Johnsville, and Jennifer (Gordon) Pry of Sunbury; grandchildren: Robert (Jennifer) Coburn, Robert (Crystal) Williams, Logan Pry, Kamryn Pry, Colt Phillips, and Anthony Phillips; 3 great grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews; and sisters: Pat Moreno and Helen Therriault both of Alaska.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 1-2 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will immediately follow at 2 pm. Chaplin Daniel Porter with Southern Care Hospice will officiate and burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2291 W 4th St Suite G, Ontario, OH 44906 or the Ohio Bird Sanctuary, 3774 Orweiler Rd, Ontario, OH 44903.

    We were Regina’s neighbors for many years when she moved into the house on the corner at 314. She kept her place so nice and her pies were delicious! We enjoyed our many yard conversations with Regina. We moved and have thought and spoke of her many times over the years, even just last week so I was shocked to learn of her passing this morning. We have a lovely slate piece she painted that we will cherish. Please accept our sincere condolences to her family.
