Reba Hunt

Reba Hunt, age 73, of Crestline, died Thursday, April 29, 2021 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after a brief and unexpected illness.

Reba was born March 28, 1948 in Portsmouth to the late Clarence and Helen Louise (Stamper) Erwin. She was a 1966 graduate of Madison High School. Reba was a longtime employee of Buckeye Bakery and had worked at the Mansfield Hearing Aid Center. She was a lead volunteer for the Cookies 4 iPads program through the Make It Fit Foundation, which gifted iPads to children with Autism. Reba was a longtime member of Journey Life Center and, most recently, Peace in the Valley in Mansfield.

Reba was a gospel singer, singing in church and with The Gospel Three and then The Homeward Bound Singers. She most recently sang with her daughter, Melissa, and has helped jump start her singing career, even singing at the Grand Ole Opry together. She loved children and assisted in raising many children over the years. She was known as a behind the scenes giver. Reba enjoyed feeding those in need and buying toys for children around the holidays.

On August 28, 1967, Reba married Wetzel Hunt. Wetzel survives along with her three daughters: Angela (Larry) Parsons of Bucyrus, Melissa (Dave) Satterfield of Ashland, and Krista Michelle Ash of Mansfield; grandchildren: Christopher (Kristie) Williams, Jeffrey Burgess, Mikayla Burgess (fiancé Jake Smith), Jewel Prater, Ashley Prater, Lexi Prater, David Satterfield, Chase Satterfield, and Dalton Satterfield; great-grandchildren: Christopher Williams II, Adalyn Williams, Evelyn Williams, and Carter Smith; sister: Shary (Clemont) Rose of Bellville; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Reba was preceded in death by her siblings: Bobby Erwin, Gary Erwin, and Elizabeth Head.

Family and friends are welcome Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 11 am until the start of her funeral services at 1 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Pastor Harvey Studer will officiate services and burial will follow in the Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make It Fit Foundation,

    Words cannot express how much I love Reba and will miss her. I wish I could have spent more time with her but my own circumstances did not allow for me to able to do that. I find solace in knowing she is praising God on the streets of glory and singing with the Angels in that heavenly choir.

    Uncle Wetzel, Angie, Kristy& Melissa my heart truly breaks for all of you. Aunt Reba was a very special woman. I am so glad I got to be around her more this past few months. I know she is singing, and rejoicing up in heaven. She gained her wings, and forever will surround you all. I love you all. ❤

    Ours families and paths have crossed paths too few times. Always enjoyed the singing we all had in common in worship of our King.
