James L. Swanger

James L. Swanger, age 78, of Shelby, died early Thursday morning, August 16, 2018 at his home.

However, Jim spent the majority of his time, and was most comfortable, in his garage where he owned and operated his own body and muffler shop. For over 20 years, Jim and his wife, Bev, camped at Auburn Lake. Together they attended several NASCAR races and Jim continued to enjoy watching races on TV. He had also enjoyed playing golf with his sons.

(Annette) Swanger of Louisville, KY; a daughter-in-law: Julie (Ken) Swanger Ensman of Shelby; 7 grandchildren: Kayla (John) Roberts, Erica (Tyler) Fairchild, Curtis (Ashley) Swanger, Keith Swanger, Cory (Sam) Swanger, Korey (Megan) Hartman, and Allison Hartman; 6 great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Quinn, Madilyn, Cayden, Lyla, and Sylas; 2 brothers: Charles (Lorraine) Swanger of Mansfield and Douglas (Lorraine) Swanger of Mifflin; a sister: Marilyn (Tommy) Watts of Shelby; 3 sisters-in-law: Peggy Estep, Joanne Milliron, and Susan Swanger all of Shelby; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: John William Swanger in 2008; a brother: Kenneth L. “Larry” Swanger; and 2 brothers-in-law: Doug Estep and Paul Milliron.
