Walter Ramsey, Jr.

Walter Ramsey, Jr., age 66, of 12 West Park Drive, Shelby, died Saturday, February 13, 1999 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Ramsey was born July 15, 1932 in Williamson, West Virginia, the son of Walter Sr. and Pansy (Browning) Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey’s mother died during childbirth and he was raised by his maternal grandparents, Dixie and Thomas Browning, and by 2 aunts and uncles: Inis and Paul
Cooke and Gladys and Raymond Duty.

He was a 1949 graduate of Burch High School in Delbarton, West Virginia. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and also served in the U. S. Army. He retired as a supervisor at Tech Form Industries in Shelby after 34 years of service. Mr. Ramsey was raised in the Baptist Church and was a devoted family man. He enjoyed woodworking and sports.

Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife, Jenniebell (Hamm) Ramsey, whom he wed on October 23, 1954; 1 son and daughter-in-law: A.J. and Marilyn Ramsey; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law: Dixie and George Wilcox, Theresa Downs, Addie and James Dunithan all of Shelby; 8 grandchildren: Amber, Kathleen, and Jacob Ramsey, Court Hudson, Stephanie and Megan Wilcox, Travis and Tyler Downs; 1 great-grandson, Jordan Downs; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Theresa Hamm of Manassas, VA.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, A.J. Ramsey, Jr.

Calling hours will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 1999, at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Becker, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Shelby, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby.
