Penwell Turner Funeral Home - Shelby, Ohio

Minnie E. (Schreiber) Wilson

Minnie E. Wilson, 89, formerly of 30 Mack Ave., died Friday evening at Crestwood Care Center.
Born Oct. 26, 1895 in Baraboo, WI, she was the daughter of Louis and Anna (Ludwig) Scheiber. She had been a Shelby resident more than 60 years.

Her husband, Gerald Wilson, preceded her in death in 1968. Surviving are three sons: Robert Wilson of Kettering, Thomas Wilson of Shelby, and Richard (Jerry) Wilson of Alliance; one daughter, Mrs. George (Barbara) Berry of Bellvue; one sister, Mrs. James (Esther) Morley of Santa Barbara, CA, and 14 grandchildren.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and had been a nurse at Madison General Hospital, Madison, WI, and Mansfield General Hospital. She served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War I and was featured in a Memorial Day Daily Globe story several years ago in which she told about the rigors of coping with the flu epidemic during WWI. More military men in the area lost their lives to flu than were killed in the war, she noted.

She was a past president of the Shelby American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Hazel Grove Grange. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Carl G. Beighley officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home.
