Dennis W. “Dan” Hohler

Dennis W. (Dan) Hohler, age 72, of 38 West End Blvd. died Wednesday morning at his home after an extended illness. He was born June 23, 1916 in Monroeville, Ohio, the son of Henry W. and Mary T. (Heether) Hohler.

Mr. Hohler is survived by his wife, Clytie (Mock) Hohler, whom he married on November 28, 1946; 1 son, Dennis W. Hohler, Jr. of Shevlin, Minnesota; 2 daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Jacqueline) Tomasich and Mrs. Terry (Patricia) Brown both of Parkville, Missouri; 8 grandchildren;
3 sisters: Mrs. Dorothy Seiler of Sandusky, Mrs. James (Edna) Herlihy, and Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Young both of Shelby; his mother-In-law, Mrs. Myrtle Mock of Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mr. Hohler was the former co-owner of the Cash Market in Plymouth and Hohler Market in Shelby. He also operated Hohler’s custom butchering in Shelby. He retired from the State Of Ohio as a meat inspector and later worked at Cornell’ s IGA. He was a member of the Most Pure Heart
Of Mary Catholic Church. He was an Honorary life member of the Shelby Council #1968 Knights of Columbus where he was active in various capacities. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was a lifetime member of the O’Brien Post of the Shelby American Legion.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with his pastor the Rev. John C. Missler, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Shelby American Legion.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Turner Funeral Home where wake services will be held Friday at 8:30. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Public Health League and left at the funeral home.
