Thoughtfully Restored

Built in 1884, our building began as a private residence before becoming a Shelby, Ohio funeral home in 1932. When Catherine and Bob Turner acquired the property in the 1980s, they began a thoughtful restoration process that would continue throughout their ownership. Guided by a deep respect for the building’s history and a heartfelt commitment to the families they served, the Turners preserved its original charm while transforming it into a warm, functional space for modern funeral care.

Thanks to their labor of love, the funeral home’s historic woodwork, elegant trim, and architectural details have all been carefully refinished or preserved, offering timeless character that helps put visitors at ease. Just as important, the entire building was adapted to meet the needs of contemporary funeral service, balancing heritage with function.

Our building remains entirely on one floor, making every room easily accessible for guests of all ages and abilities. This easily-accessible, single-level layout eliminates stairs and physical barriers, ensuring that families can move through services with comfort and dignity.

Flexible Spaces

In 2001, the funeral home was expanded to meet the growing needs of the Shelby, OH community. This 2,000-square-foot addition more than doubled the interior space and allowed us to create multiple rooms for a wide range of services.

These spaces give our licensed funeral directors and embalmers the flexibility to arrange services that feel truly personal and meaningful. Whether a family prefers a small, intimate gathering or a larger celebration of life that brings the whole community together, our layout can accommodate it without sacrificing comfort.

Each room can be transformed to reflect the tone and needs of the service, whether that means a traditional arrangement, a casual memorial, or something uniquely customized. The layout flows naturally, offering both privacy and connection. Quiet rooms provide a place for reflection and private goodbyes, while larger areas support services of many guests with space to gather, honor, and remember.

For those who may need a moment of peace away from the service, our front porch offers a place of quiet refuge. Surrounded by nature and set apart from the interior spaces, it’s a gentle reminder that healing can happen in many forms. Sometimes, fresh air and stillness are part of that process.
