Wyona J. Copeland
Wyona J. Copeland, age 89, of Shelby, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Wyona was born December 22, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of the late Clay and Ruth (Martin) Conner. She was a 1947 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and a 1950 graduate of Mansfield General School of Nursing. Wyona worked at both Shelby and Mansfield Hospitals, but her main focus was her job as wife and mother. She was a member of Mothers Club and enjoyed playing bridge. For 37 years, some of her most memorable days were spent at Bay Point at Lake Erie with her family.
In March of 1951, Wyona married Roger Copeland and he survives along with their 4 children: Linda Weber of Georgia, Scott (Jane) Copeland of Morrow, OH, Craig (Laura) Copeland of Shelby and Kurt (Sheila) Copeland of Shelby; 7 grandchildren: Travis Weber, Erin Weber, Sarah (Matthew) Patrick, Kristin (John) Reed, Brad (Carlson) Copeland, Courtney Copeland and Carter Copeland; 5 great grandchildren: Kiah Weber, Brantley Patrick, Madelyn Patrick, Leah Reed and Mason Reed; a sister: Barbara (Robert) Cramer.
Wyona’s mother died when she and her sister were young. They were raised by their aunt and uncle, Guy and Bernice Smith. Their children, Ronnie and Jerry Smith, whom Wyona considered brothers, also survive.
There will be no public calling hours. Private funeral services for the family will be held at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, with Rector Emeritus, Rev. David Sipes, officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

My condolences to you and the rest of your family. She always had a smile on her face. You were a great care taker for her and that shows the ‘Love’ you had for each other. She is now resting peacefully in ‘Heaven’ and some day you will be joined with her again.

I don’t know if you will remember me or not—years ago I worked at Meijer as a merchandiser for spices. Your wife and you would always stop to talk when you were shopping. So sorry to learn of Wyona’s passing. Roberta and I have many great memories of the two of you from all the years at Bay Point and always think of you when we pass your trailer in the campground. Roberta always enjoyed sharing school stories with you, Roger and the two of you were such a fun couple! Hope you are doing as well as can be expected.
