William Leroy Meek
William Leroy Meek, age 88, of Shelby died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 28, 1929 in Tiro, Ohio and was a veteran of the United States Army. Bill began his working career at the Shelby Phone Company retiring from Sprint. He was a member of Shelby Masonic Lodge 350 F and AM, Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland and Garrett-Reist American Legion Post#503 in Shiloh.
Bill is survived by 2 daughters: Sandra Velarde of Shelby and Sherrie (Thomas) Wilson of Ontario; a son: Lee (Jean) Meek of Mansfield; 7 grandchildren: Ryan (Martina) Wilson, Andy (Katie) Wilson, Angie Wilson, Nikkia (John) Konrad, Justin Meek, Joshua Hess, Clint Hess, Jr.; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a sister: Janet Swartz of Bucyrus; Nieces and Nephews: Sue Ann (Bob) Payne, Michael (Sara) Abbott, Kim Gabriel and Rory Swartz. He was preceded in death by his parents: LaDonna and Mike Melick; his wife: Arlene Bernice (O’Toole) Meek;a sister and brother-in-law: Leola Abbott (Bill) Fisher; 2 Nieces: Nancy Abbott Davis, Kay Swartz; a Nephew: Mark Abbott; and Aunt: Sue Miller.
Military graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10 am at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Care for Bill and his family is being provided by Bob, Catherine and Jake at Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
