Penwell Turner Funeral Home - Shelby, Ohio

Timothy Michael “Tim” Ney

Timothy Michael “Tim” Ney, 73, of Mansfield passed away into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the ultimate comforter and healer, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Tim was born October 18, 1951 and raised in Shelby, Ohio to his loving parents Donald and LaVonne (Cale) Ney. He graduated from Shelby High School where he met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Nancy. During those same years, he gave his heart to Jesus at the encouragement of Pastor Whitesel at the First Church of God.

Following graduation in 1970, Tim worked as a dispatcher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a job that provided seemingly endless stories to share. He then moved on to work as an Inventory Analyst at the “Tuby”, a career he retired from 40 years later. He was proud of his career, enjoyed his coworkers, and was always thankful for the life he was able to provide his family.

An avid sports fan, Tim thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with his kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews and various other athletic adventures throughout the years. He and Nancy, as well as friends, often traveled to attend NASCAR races and later, Indy Car events. Tim cherished his memories of many family vacations and adventures to the Smokey Mountains and, more recently, growing in his faith alongside Nancy with trips to The Cove in North Carolina.

Tim’s faith played a crucial role in his life and he worked hard to instill his faith in his children, modeling Christlikeness, integrity, and love as a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and volunteer at the Richland Pregnancy Center.

Tim was extremely devoted to reminding his family, friends, bible study group, and many more that he loved and supported them. He showed his love through daily phone calls of encouragement and love to his sisters, son, daughters, and whoever else popped into his heart and prayers that day.

Tim is survived by his favorite person on earth, his beloved wife, Nancy (Sellers) Ney; his son: Joshua (Jessica) Ney; and daughters: Natalie (Neil) Genson and Rachel (Quinn) Sexton. He adored his sisters, Linda Eith and Karen (Michael) Will, and rarely went a day without telling them. Left to share sweet memories of Uncle Tim are his nephews: Brian Eith, Erik (Katie) Will; and nieces: Lisa Owens and Nychole (Scott) Rose; and many great nieces and nephews. Everyone who knew Tim understood that he loved nothing more than spending quality time loving, chatting, and hugging on his seven grandchildren, his “nippers”, Landon, Lauren, Emily, Hayden, Quinn, Reese, and Gigi. He was preceded in death by his adored father Donald Eugene Ney and mother LaVonne Marilyn (Cale) Ney.

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 4-7 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 10 am. Pastor Russ Smith will officiate the services with burial following in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim’s memory to Richland Pregnancy Services, 1560 West Fourth Street, Mansfield, OH 44906.

Online condolences may be made on Tim’s obituary on the funeral home’s website (PenwellFuneralHome.com) or their Facebook page (Facebook.com/PenwellFuneralHome).
