Timothy L. Gwin
On Friday, September 23, 2016, Timothy L. Gwin died to living abundant life to the full on Earth and was resurrected into Heaven.
Tim was born March 24, 1959 in Bellevue, Ohio and was a 1977 graduate of Bowling Green High School. He had a passion for golf, his true love, and played his entire life. He began his working career in the golf business at Brandywine Country Club in Toledo as the assistant superintendent. In 1989 the industry brought him to Shelby to take the position of superintendent at the Shelby Country Club. Tim had a gift for caring for the land and his perfectionist qualities made his work second to none. Following the country clubs, he became a service manager for TruGreen for several years before realizing that corporate world was not for him. Tim accepted a groundskeeper position with Jackson Drilling Company, land that he took great pride and joy in stewarding. His reward was that the Jackson family cherished him like family.
Amongst Tim’s talents were his outstanding cooking abilities. Above all else, Tim led daily by example and was always timely, disciplined, committed, trusted and loyal. A man of God, Tim and his wife, Joy, attended Wooster Nazarene Church where with great fortitude he served in the children’s church ministry through August 2016. This past Sunday, the children were notified that Tim had died and went to live with Jesus in Heaven. In response, nineteen children accepted God’s free gift of salvation and now live abundant lives to the full with their own assurance that when they die they will be in Heaven with Jesus, too! We praise God that Tim’s life has had extraordinary eternal significance.
Tim is survived by his wife, Joy D. (Pittenger) Gwin, whom he married on June 12, 2005; his parents: Robert L. and Mary E. (Lieber) Gwin of Bowling Green; 3 children: Sarah P. Gwin of Columbus, Laura E. Gwin of Columbus and Brandon C. Ewing (Ashley Gullett) of Shelby; 3 grandchildren: Jaylin, Jaliyah, and Cambria; his father-in-law: R.C. Pittenger; a brother: Stephen (Janet) Gwin of Sylvania; a sister: Judy (Bill) Ballsizer of Greenville, SC; a nephew: Zach Gwin; and a niece: Maddie Gwin. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Gwin.
Friends and family are welcome on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 2-4 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where a celebration in honor of Tim’s triple portion, abundant life to the full will be conducted on Monday at 10:30 AM. Pastor Ron Frizzell will officiate and burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to North Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 947, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050.
