Thelma I. (Yohn) Frank
Thelma I. Frank, age 96, of Shelby, died Monday, March 10, 2014 surrounded by her family in the loving care of Hospice House of North Central Ohio in Ashland.
She was born October 28, 1917 in Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late Phillip R. and Bessie (Eckels) Yohn. Phillip and Bessie raised their girls on a farm. From childhood, Thelma enjoyed animals and this enjoyment spilled over to her special companion, her cat, Miss Kitty. Thelma began her working career at the Shelby Gum Company and the Tuby during World War II. She worked at Quanex for 30 years most of that time as a “Class A” welder and was a timekeeper closer to her retirement in 1983. As a longtime and faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Thelma was active in the Mary Martha Circle, Sunshine Club and Good Fellowship Class. Her pies and pecan rolls were highly desired items at the church bazaar. A selfless woman, Thelma always put the needs of others before her own.
Thelma’s first love was her family which includes her children: Richard L. and Joann Frank of Shelby, Cheryl Reed of Shelby, and Karen and Dr. Walter Kime of Ashland; 12 Grandchildren: Lisa Heydinger, Sam Patton, Jessica Frank, Cory Frank, Mark (Jennifer) Kime, David Kime (Kathleen Quinn), Adam (Laura)Kime, Meg (Ed) Legenza, David Reed, Bryan (Jen) Reed, Nathan Reed, Stephanie (Justin) Wheeler; 21 great grandchildren: Amia, Casey, Clara, Grayson, Samuel IV, Corbin, Sabastain, Thomas, Sam, Lily, Olive, Teagan, Everett, Emily, Stas, Nicole, Andrew, Sidney, Marci, Isaac, Kyra; 1 great great grandchild: Rogerick. She was preceded in death by: her husband: Ford Herbert Frank; a son: Roger Frank; Son-in-law: Wayne Reed; Grandson: John Kime; 2 sisters: Donna Durnwald and Beatrice Sperk.
Friends and family are welcome on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Edna Stahl officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.

We love and miss you mom! This world will not be the same without you! The holidays will be especially hard with out you! You held strong all the way to the end! Over the 56 years of our acquaintance, Thelma seemed never to change, from her warm greetings, to her appearance, and reputation a a good cook. Your tribute to her life is heartwarming to read.
