Terry Lee Winters

Terry Lee Winters, a beloved muscle car enthusiast, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025 peacefully in his home.
Known for his exceptionally talented automotive restoration projects where he primarily focused on first generation Chevy Camaros, Terry loved attending car shows, riding his Harley, and talking shop about anything automotive. He especially enjoyed talking about his favorite car ever owned – a 1967 Corvette, 427, 3 speed, tri-power, convertible with AC, black with red interior (1 of 100) – and reminiscing about how he towed his jet boat to the lake with it. He also enjoyed any time he got to spend with his grandchildren and was excited about becoming a great-grandfather this summer.
Terry was born November 8th, 1953, in Shelby, OH, and attended Pioneer before graduating from Shelby Sr. High School in 1972. He worked for Gorman Rupp for more than 30 years before retiring to Sebring, FL.
He is survived by his children: Theresa, Trever, Teren (Steph), Trent (Krissy), Tara (Kyle), and Tyler; siblings: Dan (JoAnn), Linda, Paul (Karen), and Mike; grandchildren: Kaitlynn (Caden) Payne, Taylor Winters, Kindsey Gregory, Oaklyn Reber, Kam Reber, and Norah Winters; and one great grandchild due this summer along with many nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his nephew, Ian Winters; his mother, Marilyn (May) Winters; and his father, Merle Winters.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Piston Foundation, pistonfoundation.org (whose mission is to bring more young people into the collector car industry).
Care for Terry and his family is being provided by the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, OH 44875. Online condolences may be made on Terry’s obituary on the funeral home’s website (PenwellFuneralHome.com) or their Facebook page (Facebook.com/PenwellFuneralHome).

I am so sorry to hear this. I’ve known all of you for a very long time, starting with babysitting days. Losing another car guy full of knowledge. Hold on to the good memories and share them with the grandkids. Sympathies to the family. He’ll be with the other car buffs talking the talk and loving every minute of it. Rest in peace Terry.
So sorry to hear of Terry’s passing, many prayers going to the family.
Dear Trent and family, I am so very sorry for your loss . Keep your memories close and I’ll keep you in my heart and prayers ❤️
You think your friends will be around forever. I met Mike n Terry in Shelby. We babysat them for years. Warmed my heart when he bought our house..Last call I made to him was to buy the house back. He said Im in Florida the kids i think are keeping it in the family. I was so glad to hear that. Mostly though him telling everything he did with his life. Mike stayed with mom at the Airforce base here in Wichita Falls. I tried to get his name the next year. Terry went on telling me about his family n how proud he was. I just listened . He always loved cars n I think this is a great foundation. He’d love that.
Mike I’ll be praying for you n your family. Teresa he loved you so much all of your family. For hrs he told me about everyone Please reach out if I can help I will.
Vicki Hewitt Wilkins.
Love n hugs. Remember all the good times.
