Steven H. Schroeder

Steven H. Schroeder, age 61, of Shelby, died Sunday, September 29, 2013.

He was born February 25, 1952 in Lima, Ohio and was a 1970 graduate of Shelby Senior High School. Steve was first and foremost a farmer his entire life. He was currently the road superintendent for Sharon Township and previously sold Kent Feed and Pioneer Seed. Steve was very active in helping and supporting his wife, Brenda, in their business, Schroeder’s Dairy Delight, transporting their ice cream trailers to various fairs and festivals around Ohio. Steve was a meticulous woodworker, including having restored their family farm house. He truly enjoyed 4-wheeling in southern Ohio with his sons. Even with his struggles with his health and pain issues, nothing made Steve happier than spending time with his granddaughter, Addison. She always brought joy to his life and put a smile on his face.

Steve is survived by his wife: Brenda S. (Pore) Schroeder, whom he wed on October 7, 1978; 3 sons: Matthew Schroeder of Shelby, Mark Schroeder of Shelby, Jeremy (Abby) Schroeder of Willard; his granddaughter: Addison Schroeder; his father: Virgil T. Schroeder of Shelby; his siblings: Dianne (Thom) Powers of Oregon, OH, Nancy (James) Schell of TX, Donald Schroeder (Deb Parks) of Shelby, Jean Ann (Keith) Fairchild of Shelby, Ursula (Ken) Esterline of Shelby, Lisa (Abel) Hernandez of Beavercreek, OH, Barbara Schroeder of MD, and Julie (Mark) Friebel of Shelby; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marjorie Pore, Glen (Marilyn) Pore, Dale Pore, Dean (Barbara) Pore, Bob (Connie) Pore; Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother: Joan May (Kiene) Schroeder; a son: Michael Schroeder; a brother: Richard Schroeder; 2 sister-in-law: Jeannette Schroeder and Phyllis Pore and a brother-in-law: John Pore.

Friends and family are welcome on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 2-7 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services celebrating Steve’s life will be held on Friday at 11 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Edna Stahl and Rev. James Humphrey officiating. Burial will be in Plymouth Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church or to Harmony House Homeless Shelter.
