Shirley J. Auck

Shirley J. Auck, age 86, of Crestline, died peacefully at her home on Friday morning, July 4, 2025.

Shirley was born March 1, 1939 in Plymouth to the late Thomas and Iva (Sonnanstine) Myers, Sr. and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1957. On June 11, 1961, Shirley married Warren Ralph Auck. It was then that they moved to Warren’s family farm in rural Crestline where they raised their family, tended to their farm, and enjoyed many wonderful memories. In addition to helping with the farm operations, Shirley was employed with the Shelby Telephone Company and worked there her entire career. She retired under the Sprint ownership.

Shirley was an incredibly active member of her church, First Baptist Church of Shelby, where she and Warren have been members for many years. Along with being active in nearly all church functions, Shirley was a part the funeral dinner team. Shirley was an outstanding cook and baker, a talent she used both for enjoyment and as a side job of catering for over 25 years.  For hobbies, Shirley was a seamstress and enjoyed quilting for Quilts of Valor.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 64 years, Warren: their children: Melody Auck of Plymouth, Marc (Heather) Auck of Crestline, and Matthew (Christie) Auck of Bucyrus; 5 granddaughters: Shelby Auck, Rebecca (Paul) Sullivan, Lilah (Graham) Geissman, Malahnia Auck, and Violet Auck; great grandchildren: Adeline and Raylan Sullivan; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister: Roselee Ewing and brother: Thomas Myers, Jr.

    Warren, Mel, Marc and Matt,

So sorry for your loss. Growing up, you were a second family for Greg and I. And, you treated us like family. Shirley (2nd mom) let us know when we were good and bad (sadly, we had equal shares of both…). The world lost a beautiful soul on the 4th of July…but heaven welcomed a firecracker that will be waiting to greet you all with open arms when it is your time to go home to her. You are in my thoughts, my prayers and my memories for life. I love you all.

    Shaun aka Cabbage

Your family is in our thoughts and prayers
