Shirley Faye Owens

Shirley Faye Owens, age 80, of Shelby, died Monday night, December 19, 2022 at her home.

Shirley was born April 27, 1942 in Firebrick, KY to the late Audrey Mabel (Bentley) and Ira Carl Boggs, Sr and was a 1961 graduate of South Portsmouth High School. Shirley, along with her husband, Bill, lived in Edgewater, Florida for 33 years working in property management. In 2016, they moved to Shelby to be closer to their family. Shirley enjoyed art- especially painting and crocheting. She loved to karaoke and had a wide range of songs she loved to sing. Shirley was truly a lady who did it all.

On October 31, 1981, Shirley married William D. “Bill” Owens, Jr. and he survives along with 5 children: Carla Blankenbeckley, William Gregory “Greg” Blankenbeckley, Alison Voner, Dayna (Dan) Legg, and William D. “Buddy” (Linda) Owens, III; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; siblings: Sandy Vergne, Theda Long, and Terry Boggs; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother: Ira Carl “Bud” Boggs, Jr.
