Sally F. Winningham
Sally F. Winningham, age 74, of Shelby, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Avita Health System- Ontario Hospital.
Sally was born on July 31, 1948 in Shiloh to the late Arvel and Eva (Shepherd) Shepherd. She loved the Lord and made it her mission to spread the love of Jesus to those around her. As a member of the House of Fellowship in Plymouth and Eternal Life Tabernacle in Willard, Sally served as an elder and a Sunday School teacher- teaching all ages. She was a very generous soul, always giving back to the church and those in need. If Sally had it to give, then she gave.
Sally enjoyed nature- watching the birds and tending to her flower garden. She loved to read, do puzzles, and cook. Above all else, Sally loved her family and time spent with each of them- raising them in the ways of the Lord by teaching them to be kind and considerate of others.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, James I. “Jim” Winningham; children: Deanna (Nick) Bailey of Shelby, Vronda Brown of Shelby, Elizabeth Stigall of Shelby, Jeremiah Sexton of Plymouth, Steven (Patrick) Wren of Columbus, Tim Winningham of Mansfield, and Thomas Winningham of Columbus; many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, siblings, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 11 am -1 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. A procession will immediately follow the visitation to Oakland Cemetery, Shelby, where graveside services will be held at 1:15 pm. To honor Sally and her life, the family has asked that you be kind, do something nice for someone around you, and pay it forward- that would certainly make Sally’s heart sing.

Sally was always ready to give me Godly advice and prayers. Miley and I loved her and will miss her. She was a special person and always had a beautiful smile. She’s rejoicing in heaven with the rest of the family and in just a little while we will be together again.
Sally is such a beautiful soul. God has a special place for her. She was welcomed by many before her and is now in Paradise with our Lord and Savior. We all need to strive to remain in God’s favor so we as well are able to enter Paradise. We will be reunited with those warriors who went before us and spend eternity with them and our Savior. Her legacy lives on in each and everyone of you. May God bless you all with dreams and visions of peace in this time of loss.

Sally was so full of love and compassion! In so many ways she was like her sister Mabel our mother! If you had a biblical question she gave you Godly advice! I will sure miss my sweet Aunt
I want to share a true story about my Aunt Sally. She was a very insightful and spiritual person. My heart goes out to Jim and my cousins. My mom (Sally’s sister) and I went to help her work on her bathroom floor when she lived in Shiloh. We worked and worked and got it done. My Aunt tried to pay me for the work, and I said no I can’t take that. This was a time in her life she was struggling finding herself being a single parent with her two youngest twin boys. She insisted that she give me something. I thought for a few minutes. I turned to her and said Sally I’m trying to buy this house I want, but I can only afford it on my terms and a fixed payment that I can afford because it needs a lot of work. So, all I ask is if you will pray if it be Gods will that this will become a reality just the way I need it to be. It was an old fixer upper. She said ” I can do that ” she went into the Kitchen to bring us something to drink but she stops and turned and said to me. “As the Lord Wills it, and as you see it so shall it be done unto you.” It wasn’t even 30 days later I think I signed the papers, and the House was mine on my terms. That House was paid off in just 10 years and it was because of her Prayers and my willingness to help my Family who was is need. I think of that often more so now than ever and these scriptures come to mind every time. Matt 10- 41 He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
Deepest sympathy to you & your family in the loss of your loved one Sally. From a former
First Christian Church friend.
She was an inspiration. Prayers for Jim and all my cousins.
