Rudolph A. “Rudy” Korbas

Rudolph A. “Rudy” Korbas, age 92, of Shelby, died Wednesday morning, December 22, 2021 at The Willows at Willard.
Rudy was born June 9, 1929 in Shelby to the late John and Mary (Propovichs) Korbas. He was a 1947 graduate of Shelby High School. Rudy was a union carpenter for 42 years beginning his career with Friebel & Hartman in Shelby for many years and working at various different places following that. Rudy had also been a Jackson Township Trustee and was the township’s Zoning Inspector for 16 years.
Rudy was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby and the Shelby Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, thoroughly loved to golf, and was always active and keeping busy.
On September 23, 1950, Rudy married Marilyn J. (Baker) Korbas and she preceded him in death November 7, 2017. They celebrated 67 years of marriage together and will now spend their first Christmas reunited again in Heaven. Also preceding him in death were his parents; great grandson: Maxton Adam Korbas; siblings: Joseph Korbas, Thomas Korbas, Paul Korbas, Marianne Korbas, and Stephen Korbas. Survivors include his three children: Phil (Laurie) Korbas, Mark (Holly) Korbas, and Todd Korbas all of Shelby, grandchildren: Kevin (Bri) Korbas and their children, Millie, Kendall, and Luke, Kraig (Abbey) Korbas and their children: Eli and Noah; Kurt (Rashelle) Korbas; Brad (Eliana) Korbas and their children James and Asher, and Ashley (Billy) Belardo; siblings: Jim (Ann) Korbas, Mike (Patty) Korbas, and Theresa Tash; a sister-in-law: Judy Korbas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
DUE TO UNEXPECTED COVID ILLNESS IN THE IMMEDIATE FAMILY, CALLING HOURS HAVE BEEN CANCELED AND THE FUNERAL MASS WILL BE PRIVATE. THE FAMILY THANKS YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING, CARE, AND SUPPORT DURING THIS TIME. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. So very sorry for Rudy’s death. Have known the Korbas’s since I moved here when Tom and I were married.

I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. I am heart broken. I loved Rudy and it was the highlight of my day to go to his room and pick at him before I would start cleaning. It was an honor to have met you all. I will miss everything about Rudy. All I can say is GO BUCKS!! Love you all.

I never met Mr Korbas but I felt like I knew him through the family stories so I knew if I would ever meet him I would really like him! The legacy you leave in the people who knew you is the biggest treasure of all it says the best of you and Rudy accomplished that in his life he was dearly loved and cared for he has left behind a beautiful family to carry on!
