To the Hopton Family….
I was saddened to hear of Roger’s passing. It immediately caused me to relive in my mind the many, many fond memories of good times spent over at 79 Second Street in Shelby in the 1970’s. Roger and Alice were just so kind, gracious, and welcoming and just made me and all the friends of their kids feel welcome, like we were all part of the family. Won’t ever forget the time Rod, Craig Jose, and I were headed home from Crestline on Rt. 61 on a snowy night, Rod took a curve too fast, and put Roger’s black Ford Ranger pickup in the ditch….no one was hurt and the truck had little damage, but Roger was “hot under the collar” when he arrived on the scene, as we had lied about where we told him we would be–he never stayed mad for long though and understood “boys will be boys”….Roger was a funny and very clever guy, could fix anything, built that big garage out back and was always tinkering with something..he will be sadly missed by all who knew him….my sincere condolences.
Please accept our deepest sympathies. In this time of grief, your family is in our thoughts and in our prayers.
Roger always had a great story to pass along.
