Robert J. Bower, Jr.

Robert J. Bower, Jr., age 59, of Shelby, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his home.

 

Rob was born September 16, 1955 in Nyack, New York, the son of Robert J. and Edith (Wilting) Bower, Sr. who survive in Mansfield. He was a 1973 graduate of Mansfield Christian School. Rob attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA and graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. Rob was a true Renaissance Man. A lifelong student, he had a thirst for knowledge. He would read endlessly to learn. A man who loved the natural world, Rob enjoyed hiking and camping with his children and grandchildren, gardening, and tending to his plants.

 

In addition to his parents, Rob is survived by: his wife, Eileen Charles Bower, whom he wed on December 26, 1996; 2 children: Peter Jeremiah Bower of Shelby, Christa (Jarrod) Bottomley of New Freedom, PA; a step-daughter: Tanya Koop of Maryland; 3 grandchildren: Reagan, Sebastian, and Ransom Bottomley; 4 siblings: David (Anita) Bower of WA, Gary (Jan) Bower of MI, Sheryl (Mark) Douras of IL, Laura (Marc) Wesserling of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 12 noon at the Clear Fork Alliance Church, 1008 State Route 97, Bellville, Ohio, 44813. Care for Rob and his family is being provided by Bob, Catherine, and Jake at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.

    I knew Rob through our work relationship at Mansfield Typewriter later MT. The relationship at MT was what I remembered and cherished. However, I learned a great deal more when I witnessed the sharing at Rob ‘s memorial service. There is so little I knew about a person I had worked with and for. Rob was gifted and special person who I will forever be blessed by having been in his presence.
