Robert J. Berger

Robert J. “Bob” Berger, age 67, of Crestline, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus following a brief illness.

Bob was born on March 4, 1946 in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Shaum) Berger. He was a 1964 graduate of Plymouth High School, after which he joined the United States Navy serving in Vietnam while being stationed on the U.S.S. Gunstonhall. Bob was the owner and active operator of Berger Family Auto Sales in Shelby which he built and opened himself in 1988. He was proud that 60% of his clients were returning customers and he appreciated their loyal support. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping, and watching the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He had recently re-affirmed his commitment with God at Crossroads Community Church in Mansfield. Bob truly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters which were his greatest joy. He wanted to enjoy life while he was healthy, and he accomplished that goal.

Bob is survived by his wife, the former Penny Palmer, whom he wed on June 8, 1991; a son, Robert B. Berger of Mansfield; a daughter, Susan M. Berger of Shelby; 2 granddaughters, Jacquelyn Berger and Katie Berger; a brother, Joseph (Phyllis) Berger of Wadsworth; a sister, Sandra (Lavon) Armstrong of Edgerton.
