Robert “Bob” Thomas
Robert “Bob” Thomas, age 67, former Shelby resident, died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Lexington Court Care Center.
Bob was born June 29, 1950 in Shelby, the son of the late Arthur and Arvania (Jones) Thomas. He was a 1968 graduate of Shelby High School where he was a proud member of the football team. Bob had been a meat cutter his entire career working at Great Scott, Herrick’s, Cornell’s, Finest, and retired from Kroger. He was a member of nearly all of the local clubs in Shelby, including: the Legion, Eagles, Moose, Owls, VFW, and the former Amvets, which he had once managed. Bob enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of the American Legion Riders.
Surviving are two children: Trevor and Becky Thomas of Heath and their children, Brooklin and Claire, and Taylor Draper of Lexington and her daughter, Aubree; his children’s mother: Phyllis (Springer) Thomas; two sisters: Betty Littleton of Warrenton, VA and Joanne (Tom) Thompson of Shelby; and a brother: Arthur (Rosemary) Littleton of Ashland.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Whippet Athletic Boosters.
