Richard A. (Rick) Landis

Richard A. “Rick” Landis, age 69, of Ashland, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic.

 

Rick was born February 19, 1945 in Shelby the son of the late Richard E. and Harriette A. (Stover) Landis. He was a 1963 graduate of Shelby High School and a 1968 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He was the general accounting manager at Hubbel (Ohio Brass) in Mansfield, retiring from the Wadsworth, Ohio facility. He and his wife, Ellie, are members of Grace Brethren Church in Ashland where he was involved with various ministries. Rick loved to travel, especially to Alaska and Hawaii where he enjoyed whale watching.

 

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Eloise “Ellie” (Tackett) Landis of Ashland; 3 siblings: Terry (Vicki) Landis of Atwater, OH, David (Nancy) Landis of Fall River, MA, Jean Ann (Michael) Viers of Shelby; 3 Aunts: Alma (Bill) Brooks of Shelby, Lillian Stover of MI, Martha Stover of Crestline; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom he adored and they equally adored him. He was preceded in death by his father in 1981, his mother in 2013, and a nephew, Adam Viers, in 2001.

 

Friends and family may call on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 AM at Shelby Alliance Church, 105 East Smiley Avenue, Shelby with Pastor Dan Allan officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to Ashland Christian School or Hospice of North Central Ohio.

    I was at the Ohio Brass in the accounting area from 1965 to 1988 when i retired.my work required trips to wadsworth and Rick came after 1968 when he graduated from Ohio university as i did in 1949 after navy in worldwar two. i explained this to family how i can say Rick was good worker and nice person our area. i do not recall meeting his family.
