Rebel D. Cornett

Rebel D. Cornett, age 81, of Marion and formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Presidential Center in Marion.

 

Rebel was born on July 5, 1934 in Plymouth, Ohio, the son of the late Jess J. and Lydia (Cole) Cornett. He spent his career at PPG in Crestline for 30 ½ years retiring as a silk screen operator. Rebel enjoyed camping. He was a “volunteer in the park” serving as a campground host at Delaware State Park receiving a 20 year pin in 2001. He was member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby.

 

Rebel is survived by: his wife of 11 years, Wava F. (Webb) Cornett; 2 daughters: Lucinda A. Fitts (Raymond J. Bosquez) of Westland, MI and Rebecca L. (Daniel) Mahl of Willard; a son: Matt (Sandra) Cornett of Crestline; 8 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 step-sons: Travis Parker, Troy Parker, David Parker, Richard Parker, and Thomas McNally; a brother: James (Nancy) Cornett of Colorado; a sister: Wilma (Erwin) Renz of Mansfield; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by: his father: Jess J. Cornett; his mother: Lydia Castle; his first wife: Lucy A. (Sheridan) Cornett in 2002; 2 sons: Christopher Cornett in 1977 and David L. Cornett in 1992; and a great grandson: Andrew Thomas Beck in 2001.

 

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 5-7 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where a wake service will be held at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 26 West Street, Shelby with Fr. James Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
