Paula Kathleen Straka
Paula Kathleen Straka, age 60, of Shelby passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, April 4, 2024 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Paula was born January 2, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio and was adopted by her loving parents Paul Albert and Kathleen Mae (Allwine) Straka. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1983. A friend to so many people, Paula enjoyed staying in contact with others by phone calls and text messages but, more importantly, through her devoted card ministry. She loved to help others.
For hobbies, in addition to sending cards, Paula enjoyed playing bingo, working on puzzles- both crossword and picture, was an avid reader, and thoroughly enjoyed dogs. She also was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and had enjoyed photography and genealogy. Paula was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and their Altar and Rosary Society. Together with her family, she was active with Pro-Life Ohio and advocated for life from conception to natural death.
Paula is survived by her brother: R. Myron (Bonny) Straka of Curtice, OH; caretakers and friends: Barb Castor and Barb Studer; aunts and uncle: Janice Davis, Larry and Joan Allwine, and Dolores Allwine; and numerous cousins and friends. Her parents and numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives preceded her in death.
Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 1-2 pm at Most Pure Heart of March Catholic Church, 29 West Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875 where Paula’s funeral mass will immediately follow at 2 pm. Fr. Chris Mileski will celebrate the Mass with burial following in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions, for those wishing, may be made to the church.

This breaks my heart. I just received a letter from her yesterday. She always sent cards for our birthdays and anniversary. She was my friend.
So saddened to hear about Paula. I always got a big hug whenever I saw her. May she be at peace.
I remember Paula mostly from way back Central elementary school. She was a funny girl, a small group of us got along together. She loved Shawn Cassidy & Elvis!!! Sorry for your loss.
