Patricia A. Nold

Patricia A. Nold, age 89, of Shelby, died Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Brookwood Place in Ashland.

Pat was born October 2, 1931 in Wayne County, Ohio to the late August and Clara (Rohr) Guenther. She was a 1949 Chester High School and furthered her education at St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus graduating in 1953 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Pat retired in 1997 from North Central Technical College where she was the Director of their Practical Nursing Department. Prior to that, Pat taught at Central Ohio Technical College.

Pat was an active member at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where she served as a lector, eucharistic minister, and assisted with the F.I.S.H. Program. Pat along with her husband, Bernie, were recipients of the Jess Rath Award, given in recognition of their community service. She thoroughly enjoyed going to the Shelby High School basketball games, attending her grandchildren’s events, doing crossword puzzles, and reading.

On May 26, 1956, Pat married her husband of 65 years, Bernard J. Nold, and he survives. Also surviving are 3 children: Amy Bonecutter, Jeffrey (Laura) Nold, and Julie (Alan) Vogt all of Shelby; 6 grandchildren: Curtis Matthews, Jared (Jenifer) Bonecutter, Alicia (Kyle) McGhee, Mackenzie Vogt, Ethan Vogt, and Caleb Vogt; a brother: Richard (Majorie) Guenther of Wooster; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law: Jeanne and Robert Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 10:30 am at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875. Fr. Chris Mileski will officiate and burial will follow in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or F.I.S.H. of Shelby, 29 Walnut Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875.

Care for Pat and her family is being provided by the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.     I have fond memories of the Mrs. Nold from growing up. I remember her delicious bbq chicken and many dinners at the Nold table. Julie and I both started at St. Mary’s together in the 5th grade and we became fast friends. The entire Nold family was so kind and welcoming to me when I visiting their home. I am so sorry for your loss!!! My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family….God Bless!!

    I was a long time friend since 5th grade. We both enjoyed attending Chester High school, graduating in 1949. We met Bernie at our Chester reunion. I cherished both of their friendships. So sorry Bernie for your loss. I lost my husband 9 months ago so I know how hard it is. Sending love and prayers.
