Penwell Turner Funeral Home - Shelby, Ohio

Pamela Kay (Kissel) Hoffman

Pamela Kay (Kissel) Hoffman, age 69, of Shelby passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at her home.

Pam was born March 20, 1954 in Ashland, Ohio to Ronald and Carolee (O’Green) Kissel. A 1972 graduate of Shelby High School, she also attended Pioneer Joint Vocational School. For 26 years, Pam worked in training and safety at Abbott Labs in Ashland until its closing. She then began working in customer service at Hi-Stat (now Stoneridge) in Lexington for over 10 years until her retirement.

An active member of Mansfield First Church of the Brethren, Pam had served on several committees over the years, including church leadership, and enjoyed helping with any church dinner or activity. She was committed to People Helping People of North Central Ohio and, at least once a month, faithfully assisted with feeding the homeless and less fortunate. A welcoming face at Shelby Whippet sporting events, Pam sold tickets to attendees at home games and was faithful to volunteering for many years. She also was passionate about supporting Mission 22 and their dedication to helping veterans and their families.

Family was so very important and cherished to Pam. She gleamed when talking about her grandchildren and children whom she most sincerely loved. She was always dedicated to following their sporting events and anything they were involved with, including showing at the fair, and loved cooking Sunday dinners at the farm for all to enjoy. In fact, she loved cooking and baking in general and was always sharing what she made with others. Traveling increased, especially after retirement, and it too revolved around family. Some trips were going to Hawaii and the beach with her siblings, and others, like visiting her daughter in Missouri and granddaughter in Pennsylvania, were so she could be close to them. Most recently, Pam was actively making quilts for her beloved great grandchildren.

Pam is survived by her children: Josh (Heidi) Hoffman of Shelby, Christina (Wes) Baker of Lawson, MO, and Jonathan (Cherie) Hoffman of Gibsonburg; grandchildren: Noah (Alexus) Hoffman, Dani (Connor) Nelson, Ty (Marissa) Hoffman, Taylor (Lucas) Ortiz, Tyler Hoffman, and Lexie Hoffman; great grandchildren: Lane Hoffman and Finely Ortiz; mother: Carolee Kissel; siblings: Joyce McKown, Jerry (Deb) Kissel, Wayne (Cheryl) Kissel, and Bonnie Bishop; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pam was preceded in death by her father: Ronald Kissel; her infant daughter: Jennifer Hoffman; and brother: Michael Kissel.

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 2-5 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10:30 am at her church, Mansfield First Church of the Brethren, 889 Grace Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44905 with burial following in Franklin Church Cemetery, Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Online condolences may be made on Pam’s obituary on the funeral home’s website (PenwellTurner.com) or their Facebook page (Facebook.com/PenwellFuneral).
