Norma Jean (Weisel) Scarbrough
Norma Jean Scarbrough, age 80, of Crestline, died early Monday morning, June 25, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Galion.
She was born June 9, 1938 in Louisville, Ohio the daughter of Lloyd and Mary (Weisel) Long. She was a 1956 graduate of Crestline High School and was a long-time employee of PPG, from where she retired.
Norma enjoyed outdoor activities such as jet skiing, snowmobiling and racing go-karts. She was an avid trap shooter. She won the Ohio State Championship for the American Legion – winning in a shoot-off. She was a member of the amateur Trap Shooters Association. Norma loved horses. She enjoyed riding them and showing Tennessee Walking horses in halter class. She also loved dogs, especially rottweilers.
Norma is survived by her husband: Jimmie “Jim” Scarbrough, whom she wed on October 25, 1958; a son: Brad (Kerri) Scarbrough of Shelby; a cousin: Carol Ringer. She was preceded in death by a brother: Jim Long.
Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 10-11 AM at Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM with Kindred Hospice Chaplain, Terry Mc Laughlin, officiating. Burial will be in Ontario Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff of both Kindred Hospice of Marion and Signature Healthcare of Galion for their kindness in caring for Norma. Memorial expressions may be made to either of the two organizations.
