Penwell Turner Funeral Home - Shelby, Ohio

Michael Lee Heinberger, Jr.

Michael Lee Heinberger, Jr., age 58, of Mansfield, died Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Avita Health System Galion Hospital as a result of a heart attack.

Mike was born August 15, 1963 in Mansfield to Shirley Jean (Makowski) and Michael Lee Heinberger, Sr. He was a very talented auto mechanic his entire life beginning his work at his parents’ station, M & S Marathon. His talents lead him to become an ASE Certified GM Mechanic and he spent his entire life working at various dealerships- most recently for Rocket Chevrolet in Shelby.

It did not matter where Mike was or what he was doing, if there was someone who needed him, he was there. He was such a giving person who was always on the go. He was continually in work mode and constantly wanted to prove his worth. Mike had his family, and he had his bar family at Finish Line and Bostic Time- both of which he was incredibly close with. He was always the life of the party and quickly became friends with anyone he was around. Mike enjoyed throwing darts and poker night, taking canoeing trips with his bar family, and fishing trips with friends. Back road car drives with his wife, Crystal, were frequent and driving the grandchildren around on the 4-wheeler was always a thrill. He was always so much fun to be around.

Mike married Crystal G. (Tackett) Heinberger on June 17, 2006 and she survives. Also surviving are his 3 children: Christopher Michael Heinberger of Ashland, Jami Harvilla of Galion, and Brandon Mansfield of Toledo; 4 grandchildren: Alivia Faith and Karson Lee Heinberger and Liam Masyn and Roman Hudsyn Harvilla; his father: Michael Lee Heinberger, Sr. of Marblehead; a sister and brother: Cynthia Lee Heinberger of Galion and Kevin Lee (Amanda) Heinberger of Mansfield; a brother-in-law: Jason Lee (Christina) Tackett of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jean (Makowski) Heinberger, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Faye and Jr. Tackett.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 5-8 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 12 noon. Guests may also visit one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday form 11 am- 12 noon.
