Maxine Sophia Cain
Maxine Sophia Cain, age 86, of Shelby and formerly of Mansfield, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Maxine was born October 11, 1928 in Hebron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Othmar and Eva (Moran) Frischen. She was raised on the family farm and did her part to help from bailing hay to milking cows. She was a 1947 graduate of Hebron High School where she was in the band, and played softball and basketball. She always had a passion for sports, especially basketball, and enjoyed following various athletes over the years. Maxine loved tinkering and was constantly working with her hands. She was very handy and liked to take things apart just to be able to put them back together from car or lawnmower motors to her grandchildren’s Christmas presents. She was blessed with a green thumb, growing incredible ferns. She was an excellent baker and loved music. Maxine was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mansfield.
Maxine is survived by 5 children: Marsha Fletcher of Akron, Connie Kendall of Henderson, NV, Pattie Ogden of Polk, Stanley (Veronica) Cain II of Shelby, and Scott (Jennifer) Cain of Shelby; 12 grandchildren: Stephanie Berry DeLong, Stacey (Jeff) Childers, Danielle (Chris) McNichol, Christie (Rick) Kendall Plote, Heather Isenhart, Jesse Dysinger, Brendan (Kayla) Cain, Devin (Kimberly) Cain, Jarrod Cain, Victoria Cain, Riley Cain, Natalie Cain; 13 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; a sister: Janice Forsythe of Powell; a brother: Sonny (Rosemary) Frischen of Kirckersville, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Bruce Cain in 2003, and two sisters, Gerry Lawson and Virginia Parr.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 1 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby with Deacon Stephen C. Keller officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation at the funeral home from 11 AM- 1 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Bethlehem, Shelby Settlement.

My heart was saddened to learn of Maxine’s passing. But, I also smiled to have had the opportunity to know her. She was very dear to me. She had an awesome family that should have no regrets. May you rest now pretty lady. Prayers to all the family that God will comfort your broken hearts.

To my Cain cousins. So sorry to hear about aunt Maxine. Take this time to treasure all of the great times. I remember us having to talk quickly on the phone when we made that long distance call to mansfield, plus knowing when we visited most likely a game of Basketball or touch Football was about to begin. The Forsythe’s Scott, Sandy, Ashley, and Matt are thinking of you.
