MaryAnn Jean Allamon
MaryAnn Jean Allamon, age 85, of Shelby, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
MaryAnn was born July 26, 1935 in Republic, PA, the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Klima) Vresko. A graduate of Red Stone High School in Republic, PA, she worked as a switchboard operator in PA prior to moving to Shelby with her late husband, Ray, and their family in 1960. In Shelby, she worked for Ballonoff Metal Products and later for AMF until its closing.
MaryAnn loved to bowl and play bingo and especially enjoyed going for walks. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Penn State Nittany Lions. MaryAnn was a faithful member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby.
Survivors include her 7 children: Richard Allamon of Shelby, Cheryl (Larry) Schunke of Fredericktown, Timothy (Nancy) Allamon of Bucyrus, David (Cathey) Allamon of Lubbock, TX, Linda (Jim) Darnell of McClelland Town, PA, Christine (Jesse) Sanders of Center Line, MI, and Deborah Hamilton of Shelby; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ray E. Allamon, on September 1, 2004; a granddaughter: Bernice Adkins; a brother: Bob Vresko; and a sister: Gertrude Vresko.
Family and friends are welcome at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 5-7 pm and also from 9:30-10:30 am on Thursday, May 27, 2021 where funeral services will immediately follow at 10:30 am. Fr. Chris Mileski will officiate with burial following in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, 29 West Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
