Mary L. Worthington

Mary L. Worthington, age 101, of Shelby, died early Wednesday morning, January 22, 2025 at Ontario Estates Senior Living.
Mary was born on November 28, 1923 in Shelby to the late Floyd and Myrtle (Foster) Baker. Mary had been employed at Shelby Spring Hinge for 20 years prior to spending 10 years at Shelby Metal Products from where she retired. She enjoyed traveling, working on her farm, and loved gardening. Mary was a lifelong member of the Shelby First United Methodist Church- a true centennial+ membership.
Mary is survived by her daughter: Gloria Franklin of Shelby; grandson, Scott Franklin of Shelby; step grandson: Darren (Jody) Ankney; and nephew: Dean Baker. On December 24, 1949 Mary married Rolla C. Worthington and together they celebrated 62 years of marriage until his passing on February 15, 2011. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law: Gregg Franklin; stepdaughter: Sandra Ankney; step great grandson: Bryce Ankney; brothers: Walter Baker and Corliss Baker; sister-in-law: Irene Baker; and nephew: Terry Baker.
Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10-11 am at Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875, where funeral services will immediately follow at 11 am. Pastor Michael Padula will officiate the services with burial following in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 18 South Gamble Street, Shelby, OH 44875.
