Mary Ann (Follman) Schroeder

Mary Ann (Follman) Schroeder, age 88, of Shelby, died Friday, September 29, 2017 at The Willows at Willard.
She was born September 27, 1929 in River Rouge, Michigan, the daughter of the late John and Suzanne (Mergel) Follman. Mary Ann attended St. Peter’s Catholic School in Mansfield until her family moved to Bucyrus where she graduated from Bucyrus High School. This “city girl” became a farmer when she married Eugene J. “Gene” Schroeder on February 18, 1950, and was involved in every aspect of the family farming operation.
Mary Ann was a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem, Shelby Settlement, Altar Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a founding member and received the Family of The Year Award in 1992. She enjoyed attending her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. An avid golfer, Mary Ann was a member of the Shelby Country Club and was very proud of her 3 holes-in-one. Her other hobbies included playing cards, embroidering, and crocheting, having made blankets for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the 40+ years she was able to spend wintering in Florida.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she is survived by 4 children: Susan (Patrick) Logsdon of New Washington, Patricia (Russell) Todd of Galena, William (Fran) Schroeder of Shelby, John (Angel) Schroeder of Shelby; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren: Angela (David) Morrow and their children Oliver and Ruby; Christa (Jeff) Kozy and their daughter Lucy; Brian (Heather) Todd and their children Layla and Christian; Justin (Larissa) Schroeder and their children Grayson, Jaxon and Zane; Curtis (Alisha) Schroeder and their children Mya, Brody, and Ivy; Anthony (Tara) Schroeder and their children Avery and Allie; Cara (Chris) Russell and their children Henry and Silas; a sister: Helen Pinion of Bucyrus; 3 sisters-in-law: Martha Schroeder, Mildred Schroeder, and Elvera Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene J. Schroeder in 1998 and by a grandson, Mark Schroeder.
Mary Ann was very grateful and thankful for her extended family of past and present employees that allowed her to have a full and abundant life.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 3-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home,168 West Main Street, Shelby where a wake Service will be held at 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem, Shelby Settlement, 5742 State Route 61 South, Shelby. Father Chris Bohnsack and Father George Mahas will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
