Martha I. (Sonnanstine) Hipsher

Martha I. (Sonnanstine) Hipsher, age 98, of Crestline, died peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2016 at her home.

Martha was born May 9, 1917 in Richland County, the youngest child of the late Frank and Ella (Waldvogel) Sonnanstine. Prior to her marriage she worked at the Shelby Spring Hinge Company from 1935-1940 before becoming a homemaker the remainder of her life. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, square dancing, and reading her daily devotional, The Upper Room.  Martha was a faithful and very active member of Tiro United Methodist Church where she proudly attended each week until this past year when her health no longer permitted. Above all else, her biggest interest was her “Million Dollar Family” whom she cherished.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Loren Fried Hipsher in 2008; a son: Loren Edward Hipsher in 2013; a son-in-law: William Albright in 2011; a granddaughter: Ashley Koeper; and 12 siblings: Vesta Lorentz, Mary Ebersole (her twin), Ethel Smith, Lily Lorentz, Iva Meyers, Loveda Williams, Russel, Emmett, Willard, Clifford, Kenneth and Woodrow Sonnanstine.

Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10:30 AM.
