Marsha Kay Tucker

Marsha Kay Tucker, age 82, of Shelby, died Tuesday night, April 20, 2021 at her home.

Marsha was born January 8, 1939 in Shelby, the only child of the late William H. and Doris May (Stevens) Walker. She was a 1957 graduate of Shelby High School and on May 25 of that same year, married Larry Eugene Tucker.

Marsha had a love for children which was sparked at a young age. As a little girl, on a car ride with her parents, they passed a farmhouse on State Route 598, to which she explained that, “one day she would live in that house and have seven children!” Fast forward through the years and she and Larry purchased and lived in that very home and proceeded to have seven natural and three adoptive children to love and raise. Together they built a life and family where Marsha was a devoted mother and homemaker not only to her 10 children, but also to 97 foster children. Beginning their ministry in 1965, Marsha and Larry mostly fostered newborn babies from Richland, Huron, and Hocking Counties. At one time, even caring for five children under the age of one. Her love of babies stayed true throughout her entire life even into a large doll collection, a major hobby for Marsha.

She was a member of the Plymouth Township Ladies’ Aid and Hazelgrove Grange and, together with Larry, enjoyed frequenting auctions. She was also a member of Plymouth First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 64 years, Larry, and their 10 children: Mary Elizabeth (Allan) Niedermier of Tiro, Janet Lynn (Robert) Francis of Butler, MO, Christopher John Tucker of Zanesville, Cory David Tucker of Cullman, AL, Debra Ann Veigl of Cullman, AL, Rebecca Kay (Greg) Sater of Marysville, Michael Eugene (Karla) Tucker of Plymouth, Brian Allan (Michele) Tucker of Carrol, Mark Edward (Lynda) Tucker of Columbus, and Christopher Allan Tucker of Galion; 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren with 2 additional on the way; and 97 foster children, including a special foster daughter, Lori Thompson. In addition to her parents, Marsha’s son in law, Kevin Veigl, preceded her in death.

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 2-5 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 11 am.
