Marlene “Sally” Arms

Marlene “Sally” Arms, age 75, of Shelby, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at her home after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

Sally was born January 26, 1940 in Bloxham, England, the daughter of the late John Joseph and Gertrude Elizabeth (Bartlett) Buckland. While in England, Sally met her late husband, Bobby Joe Arms, while he was serving his country in the Air Force. They married on February 5, 1972. Their marriage brought them to the United States where they lived in Michigan until his retirement from the Air Force in 1975. They then moved to Shiloh, Ohio and later settled in Shelby. Sally worked at Glen’s Surplus in Shelby for many years. She was a member of the International Club. Sally loved going home to England each year and was an avid gardener, especially loving her own English garden. She enjoyed shopping, especially thrifting, traveling to Vegas, and was a true animal lover.

Sally is survived by her sister: Dorothy Reynolds of Bloxham, England; numerous nieces and nephews; her devoted dog, Molly, who never left her side throughout her illness; and her loveable parrot, Herbe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Arms, on February 21, 2014 and a brother, Peter Buckland.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her caregivers and OhioHealth Hospice for their extraordinary care to Sally.

Per Sally’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Sally will return to England where her heart has always been. Memorial contributions may be made to Richland County Humane Society or OhioHealth Hospice. Care for Sally and her family is being provided by Jake, Bob and Catherine at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.
