Marjorie E. Roush
Marjorie E. Roush, age 88, of Shelby, passed away peacefully at her home Monday morning, February 19, 2024.
In her own words, here is the story of Marge’s life. “I was born August 17, 1935 at home in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio to Adam and Caroline “Lena” (Zimmerman) Holzworth. I graduate from Union High School in 1953 and worked at AMF in Shelby as a secretary until going into the auction business with my late husband, Sam Roush. We worked 35 years in the business. Sam and I dearly loved the auction business and the wonderful people who came to the auctions. To you all, thank you. We also had Wall Street Storage- a business we too loved for over 50 years.”
“I was the first woman to sit on the First National Bank of Shelby Board of Directors. What a wonderful honor. I also continued to sit on the Civista Bank Board of Directors following the merger. Additionally, I was elected to St. Mary School Board. What a great experience and a great school.”
“Sam and I were married 38 years. We loved to travel. We went to Antarctica and saw the penguins- one wonderful trip. Later I went to the Arctic. It also was a wonderful trip. I really did enjoy traveling. Following Sam’s passing in 1995, I married Bert E. Davis in 2007. We were married for 13 years until his passing in 2020.”
“I found a lot of happiness in sewing and embroidery work over the years and I’ve created many projects throughout my life. I have also been a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.”
“Sam and I adopted our two children Samuel David and Cynthia Ann.” Marge’s survivors include her children: S. David (Brenda) Roush and Cynthia (Steve) Carroll; grandchildren: Jamie Roush, Garrett Schroeder, Morgan (Cameron) Lawrence, Stephen “Burl” (Jenny) Carroll and Michael Carroll; great grandchildren: Alainah, Collin, Carmen, Luke, Riley, Kylie, and Colin; sister: Lena Rose Holzworth; God daughter: Denise Carriere; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Sam, and Bert, Marge was preceded in death by her sisters and their husbands: Marie (Jim) Melching, Evelyn (Carl) Bemiller, and Eleanor (Al) Borsani; and a brother who passed at the age of 9: Lawrence Holzworth.
