Marie Florence (Reber) Giesige

Marie Florence Giesige, age 89, of Shelby, died Saturday morning, February 18, 2017 at her home.
Marie was born November 12, 1927 in Cass Township, Richland County, the daughter of the late Stephen and Florence (Rhodebeck) Reber. Marie worked for Shelby City Schools and Mansfield Head Start as a bus driver and was the second female bus driver in Shelby history. She was an avid card player having played euchre for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband for over 20 years all over the country.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Carol M. (Dennis) Lasker of Mt. Gilead, Patricia L. Grove of Shelby; 2 sons: Robert G. (Nancy) Giesige of Mt. Gilead, Mark J. (Candy) Giesige of Shelby; 6 grandchildren: Cory (Gail) Schuck, Chris (Jim) Vargo, Shawn Welch, Jennifer (Dale) Scholl, Jill Couch, Nikki Welch; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Harold Giesige on September 16, 2001; a daughter: Kathleen A. Ball in 2006; and was the last surviving child of her five siblings: Walter Reber, Howard Reber, Clarence Reber, Roy Reber, and Edna Kanney.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 5-7 pm at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where a rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street, Shelby, with Fr. Chris Mileski celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.

So sorry to hear of Marie’s death. She was a fun loving person and I totally enjoyed my visits with her after I mowed her yard. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
