Margaret Ellen “Dee Dee” (Fox) Kemp
Margaret Ellen “Dee Dee” Kemp, age 93, of Shelby, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Dee Dee was born June 18, 1925 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Lester and Lavon (Baker) Fox. She was a 1944 graduate of Shelby High School. Dee Dee had worked at Wilkens Airforce Depot, AMF, and Shelby Spring Hinge Company prior to working at Shelby Hospital in the housekeeping department. She served the hospital for over 35 years, until the age of 84, prior to her retirement. Dee Dee was an avid gardener and enjoyed arts and crafts and shopping. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and, during the height of the Beanie Baby craze, she loved purchasing and gifting them to her family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Dee Dee L. and Orva E. Dawson, Jr.; 6 grandchildren: Sally (Tom) Hoak, Mary Dawson, Amy Dawson, Kelly Dawson, and Scott Dawson all of Shelby, and Sherry (Brandon) Frankart of Republic; 5 great grandchildren: Logan Cronenwett, Sarah Hoak, Ethan Dawson, Anthony Dawson, and Braxton Dawson; a sister-in-law: Pat Fox; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. On July 27, 1968 Dee Dee married Charles J. Kemp and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1996. Also preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, was a grandson, Andrew Charles Dawson, on April 25, 2018, and two brothers, Dan Fox and Jim Fox.
Pastor Tim Yoder will officiate private graveside services at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Care for Dee Dee and her family is being provided by Jake, Bob, and Catherine, at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother. I took care of DeeDee at Crestwood Care Center and she was such a joy. She made us laugh many times. I am blessed to have been able to take care of her and also for her to touch my life. May she rest in peace. My prayers are for your family today and in the days to come.
So sorry for your loss. Dee Dee was family to me, I remembering telling her that I wish I was one of her grand children, she loved them so much. A great loving woman who I loved also. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember DeeDee from many years ago when I was employed at Shelby Hospital. She was always a joy to work with and saw her on a daily basis for 15 years. She was always happy and cheerful. I am so sorry for the family’s loss, I am sure she will be missed greatly
