Louise A. Wetz
Louise A. Wetz, age 78, of Mansfield and formerly of Shelby, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at her home.
She was born June 6, 1937 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Harold H. and Gladys A. (Heuberger) Hoover. Louise was a 1955 graduate of Shelby High School. Her goal, since she was a little girl was to be a teacher. She accomplished her goal in 1968 when she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ashland University with certification in reading. Louise took great pride in helping children live up to their potential. She retired in 1994 from Shelby City Schools where she had taught all grade levels. Louise was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby where she had served on church council, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was active in Lutheran Marriage Encounter. One of her favorite pastimes was playing the piano.
Louise is survived by her husband: Donald R. Wetz, whom she wed on June 6, 1959; 2 sons: Michael (Kim) Wetz of Lexington and Stephen (Renee) Wetz of Sylvania; 2 grandchildren: Peyton Wetz and Samuel Wetz; 2 step grandchildren: Jeffrey Funston and Deena Liming; 1 step great granddaughter: Tessa Liming; a brother: Duane (Carolyn) Hoover of Florida; 2 sisters-in-law and their families: Eileen Wetz of Ashland and Sue Wetz of Shelby.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 5-7 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church, 33 Broadway, Shelby, with Pastor Russ Yoak officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Because of Louise’s love of education and helping children, memorial expressions may be made to First Lutheran Church to be put towards the Lumadue Scholarship Fund. So sorry to read of Louise’s passing. She was a wonderful teacher and friend.i remember her work with the prayer teams.

I never really met her. But her son, Michael, was always there for her. And I always heard nice stories about her. About how amazing of a musician she was. And how amazing of a mother she was. I always enjoyed listening to stories about her. May she rest in peace.
