Larry E. Paynter

Larry E. Paynter, age 88, of Crestline, died Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2024 at Signature Healthcare of Galion.

Larry was born August 5, 1935 in Crestline to the late Delano and Alma (Kraner) Paynter. A 1953 graduate of Crestline High School, Larry enlisted in the United States Army following graduation and was honorably discharged. Larry began working at Sherer’s Dairy delivering milk to homes and to schools and spent his entire career there, retiring under the Smith Dairy ownership. He was a lifelong and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crestline.

On August 15, 1959, Larry married Catherine C. “Katie” (Krichbaum) Paynter and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage until her passing on October 23, 2020. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Phyllis Landers, Meri Lee Sprang, and Carol Paynter. Larry is survived by his children: David (Kathleen) Paynter and Linda (Jim) Hicks both of Crestline; grandchildren: Sarah (Thad) Metzger, Aaron (Sarah) Paynter, Rebekah (Bob) Weber, Adam (Amanda) Paynter, Hannah Mary Paynter, and Kaitlyn Hicks; 17 great grandchildren; and a brother: William (June) Paynter of TN.

Family and friends are welcome to attend funeral services on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 N. Thoman Street, Crestline, OH 44827 with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline. Public calling hours will not be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the CAMP Community Christmas Program.
